Power was out for about 30 minutes,

Here are the updates from EDF in case you are unable to get through on the phone to them

As of 23:34 here is a summary of the issue - We became aware of the fault at 23:00. The cause is a fault with an underground cable in the London SE22 area, our engineers were dispatched to site at 23:07. The current status of the issue is that we've assigned engineers to locate and fix the issue; they are now on their way, the estimated timeframe to have power back on is 01:30 to 02:30. We'll be in touch when we have more information.

Update at 23:44 - We've remotely diverted electricity around the faulty part of the network, restoring power to 545 properties. This leaves 349 properties affected by the underground network fault. We'll keep sending text updates to everyone until all the power to your area is on. If you want to stop receiving texts, please just send CANCEL to 80876 (standard text fees apply).

Update received just now at 00.19

Update at 00:17 - We believe our engineers have been able to restore power to all 1718 customers in the London SE22 area, by diverting power around the underground network fault. Due to the nature of this issue, if your power isn't back on we'll need to hear from you. To report this, or to talk to us about anything else, call us on 08003163105 which is free from landlines and mobiles. We understand how difficult a power cut can be, so we're sorry for any disruption or worry this caused you. Being without power during the current pandemic can be especially difficult, but please rest assured that as key workers, our staff will continue to work around the clock to keep the lights on. If you have any concerns or questions, give us a call any time.

I was called by the energy people this morning to check that everything was now ok.

Apparently there was an explosion at the substation adjacent to 25 Lacon Road.

Firefighters came very quickly and contained things, and there was no fire.

Some people didn't get their power back till 3am, so Ulverscroft Road was relatively lucky!

For future reference (let's hope not needed) the emergency number is 105.

What Sue said..

I got a call too. But had to cut the lady off as I had a DPD Delivery arrive as she was speaking to me.

Good to get feedback from Power company and be informed..

Also got constant updates during outage.

Well done..

    • A shout out for Mark, owner of Pure Plumbers. 07970 971510 They're well established in the Sevenoaks area, but have recently started doing more work in SE London.  Did some v quick and efficient bathroom and boiler fixes for me; have also seen some of the bathrooms he's built, which have a nice attention to detail. • Totally agree regarding not supporting chains. Gail’s was fine but last time I went in Feb this year, actually walked out Fayetteville looking at menu and waiting 15 minutes to even get glass of water and not busy at all. Staff gone down hill - sooner it goes the better… Always prefer to support non chains - so many lovely places with good food to choose from with pleasant staff who know about customer service and sadly, non English which says a lot for our culture, pubs are also becoming abit of a hit and miss affair but maybe just unlucky. At the end of the day all about the chef. Still abit unclear where new place is located - is it down the road from Goose Green where parade of shops are before Peckham Rye?
    • Surely only where the local businesses offer clear advantages, otherwise you are rewarding what should be failure. I want to be served by a better bakery than Gail's, not a worse but local independent one. Certainly give a local independent some time to get the offer right, but don't buy goods which are worse and or more expensive just because the outlet isn't a chain.
    • Let’s just boycott all chains in favour of local businesses.  Places like Gail’s popping up everywhere has a very damaging impact on small businesses. It’s just the same as the new empanadas place but on a bigger scale. I’ll say it a million times more, we hold the power with our choices. Let’s use our power to look after ourselves and our environment (which includes small local family businesses). And yes, I also love Chacarero.
