Hi all,

My son, who will be 5 next week keeps rolling his eyes - they sort of go off to the side and it looks really disturbing. He says that if he doesn't do it then his eyes hurt. He's not doing it as much when he's concentrating, and he's only starting doing it today, but he's doing it all the time and its really worrying me.

I'll take him to either the docs or the opticians this week but I just wondered if anyone has experienced this before? I'm getting myself into a complete panic about it!

ps, I know I can't get a medical opinion from here, but looking for a bit of reassurance!

thank you

Could it be a twitch? My son had a series of twitches from that age.

Some didn't last for longer than a few weeks, others for months. One was eye related - he made his eyes go bigger and looked to the side.

No solution other than they pass in time and tend to pass quicker if ignored as much as possible.

Good luck

Definitely take him to GP or optician. Both can refer to ophthalmogist. Both of my boys has problems around this age. One had exophoria (both eyes), the other a slight squint. Exophoria treated with eye exercise, the other has grown out of it. Nothing to worry about but worth checking out.

    • Using the smart CCTV cameras is your best strategy - particularly if they have adequate infra-red capability. Setting them to be triggered by line crossing or areas of intrusion is worthwhile setting up as is linking them to a PIR sensor. The PIR could also be used to activate a sounder but that might upset your other neighbours. I have a few cameras around our property and I enjoy reviewing the recordings and apart from foxes and birds, I catch the occasional opportunistic thief on camera - like this one last Tuesday. If you need any help, please drop me a PM. S7.mp4

    • Well unless the heron got them later, there were the  two cootlets. I think some others of this year's babies must have escaped the heron. Many years ago (and possibly still, though I never see them any more) there was a whole heron family on the island  - mum, dad and youngster. I don't know how long herons live. Maybe this one is the grown up youngster.
    • Neighbourhood police, they often get called in for neighbourhood 'disputes', although if you have been Southwark ASBU perhaps you have already explored this
