How can I buy a parking permit from Southwark council before I move to a new property?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I was wondering if anybody could advise me on this. I am moving into a house that's in the middle of a CPZ, and need to get myself a parking permit. I need the parking permit before my move so that I can park my car. However, Southwark Council won't (for reasons that I understand) allow me to buy a permit online before I get a council tax number for the property in question.

I was wondering if anybody knows how I can solve this vexing conundrum by doing something like:

1. Buying a post-dated parking permit using my new rental contract as proof, or

2. Buying a temporary parking permit, or

3. Getting a council tax number in advance.

I was very surprised that Southwark Council's website didn't have anything on this at all. I can't be the first person to face this issue! :-(

Thanks in advance,

Sid

That should work well, jrpfinch, thanks a million. I was very confused by the whole parking permit thing as, by some quirk of a benevolent fate, I have never had to live on a road that required parking permits before this.:-)
Also, the vehicle with your furniture will need one to offload so get hold of some visitors day passes at the same time. You can get these from the One Stop Shops - there is one on the Old Kent Road but surely must be one a bit closer. When I lived in a CPZ, I always had a book of them to hand.

    • As I said, it was my understanding. I worded it very carefully. I didn't/don't know for sure, so clearly not a fact. And hardly an "opinion", which is something completely different. You have no idea what reason anybody might have had for not voting for him (unless you can point to some opinion poll results which actually asked people?)
    • Also, just to add, the threat to kill someone's dog and try to kick it, is an additional extremely unpleasant layer. I have noticed a lot of the burst water balloons lying around in the park too- that is not great for the environment either.
    • I’m basing it on the fact that Jeremy Corbyn had repeatedly and on record said he is against mandatory vaccinations in any situation, and he wouldn’t disclose wether he had the Covid vaccine himself    as I said. Not as bad as his brother but very definitely a bit weird about the whole thing. Just say you had the vaccination Jeremy, say that everyone should and stop being weird in the middle of a global pandemic    it’s the same slippery evasive nonsense about Brexit and him. About Putin poisonings and him.     if you are happy with his evasiveness then you do you.  But there is a reason the country wouldn’t get behind him
