  1. Another recommendation for Rob Mills. My HW failed last week. Rob came round, diagnosed the boiler issue & fixed it. Very quick & efficient. Reasonable rates. Nice guy too. Will definitely be using him as my go to plumber for the future.
  2. Wallet found on Forest Hill Rd near the pharmacy/Coop has been returned to owner
  3. Hi PR..Thanks for clarifying. I hope the ones you saw were reunited with the person who lost them. We cross-crossed her route several times but nothing doing.
  4. A friend lost the only key to a particular door while walking her dog earlier in the park. It?s a Chubb key on a pink plastic shoehorn. Please keep an eye out for it if you?re up there. Like so many at the moment, she can ill afford to pay for a locksmith. Fingers crossed it can be found! Thank you
  5. Very knowledgeable, good rates, great guy. Kept things safe with distance & a mask. Recommend!
  6. This is a belated recommendation for Joseph to add to all the other glowing reports above. I recently parachuted in to help a friend pack up her belongings for an emergency move the following morning. Joseph took on the job at very short notice thinking he had around 20 boxes to transport to the storage place on the Old Kent Rd. As it turned out, this was a serious miscalculation and the 20 boxes ended up being considerably more, together with many large bin bags full of textiles, and several items of furniture. He arrived on time, and despite the fact he found himself single-handed on what should have been a two-man job (our fault), and on a job which he could have anticipated to have taken around an hour which turned into five as we were still packing, packing, packing, he displayed the patience and good humour of a saint, helping make what was a traumatic experience far more bearable. Lovely guy. Can thoroughly recommend him. Joseph: 07584 161 444
  7. Resurrecting this thread: John is on permanent listing in my phone and so worth the recommendation. He came round yesterday to service my old boiler. Called beforehand to say he was on his way, was very thorough e.g. checked all rads to see if they needed bleeding in case boiler needed repressurising, gave great advice, and was very reasonable. One happy boiler. Then onto part 2 of the job which was invesigating antique water heater issue for an elderly neighbour. He got it going in double-quick time - someone (possibly me - ahem) had attempted to relight the pilot, got it going but forgot to turn switch back to normal position. He laughed it off and didn't charge. My go-to lovely person for all things gas.
  8. Anyone know what's going on up at One Tree Hill at night lately? Fire on the old band stand, heaps of cardboard left lying around, broken glass everywhere, bags of litter spilling out, bottles in the undergrowth.. Broken oak branches and damage to saplings, presumably from trying to break them up for firewood. Then last night a blood curdling scream at 1.30am followed by a lot of male shouting and more hysterical screaming which sounded female. Seriously, seriously, disquieting. Police were called.
  9. Just had a letter to make an appt with Podiatry and given two centres to choose from, the one in Bermondsey and the one on Peckham High St. Anyone got any experience of either or both? This is to get help for tendon and pain in feet issues as opposed to unruly nails and corns. Thanks.
  10. "I have tried to shop there, on a veg stall, I queued, I was continually ignored in favour of other customers, not speaking English in hijabs and gave up." I shop at Peckhams fruit and veg stalls on a regular basis. Never felt my custom was passed over in favour of anyone else, hijab-wearing or otherwise. Genuinely perplexed that you should have had such an experience.

  14. A deputation about the appalling service provided by Fusion was made at the Public Meeting at Peckham Harris Academy a few weeks ago. I felt Mr Hargroves used it as an opportunity to give himself and the council a pat on the back for the two new leisure facilities Southwark have in the pipeline. Completely failed to address the longstanding issues we have with the way Fusion are running all the others. Reminded me of some people I've had to work around in the past.
  15. Gavin Edwards contacted Thames Water who said contrary to what I'd been told, there was no plan to fell the trees in this wholesale way. However, it's unclear whether there are more to come down in addition to those felled recently or whether that was the extent of it. I'll feed back if anyone's interested. Sorry for the misinformation.
  16. I was at a public meeting attended by Cllr Barry Hargrove a few weeks ago at Harris Academy, Peckham. There was a deputation about the appalling state of Fusion run facilities, their lack of accountability, the renewal of their contract despite their obvious failings. He responded by announcing Southwark had plans to build two big recreational centres in the near future. Just like Fusion, swerve, avoid, deliver more of the same.
  17. I wouldn't be so sure about that. I had to pay Council Tax on two properties when I moved to Southwark as my obligation extended both to the property I'd bought and the rental I was living in while the house was being made habitable, so just because you've paid it in one location does not mean you are exempt if you are temporarily living elsewhere.
  18. Had another word with the guys doing the work. Apparantly, the Environmental Agency did a site inspection not long ago and were really pleased with the mixed habitat afforded by the current set up. However, Thames Water are pushing through with the planning application to fell the trees regardless. Anyone got any tips on getting a number for Thames Water that will put me through to the kind of office that deals with this kind of land issue? I've tried going through the tree felling company but they are employed by Sodexho and don't have a direct contact.

  20. Anyone tried the rooftop cinema in the Bussey? Similar price to the Picturehouse with the advantage of a cracking bar and exceptional views.
  21. Haha, I'm sure they do but when whoever picks it up finds out it doesn't work, they'll bin it most likely. In which case I might as well cut out the middleman and bin it myself, but that's missing the point, lol..
