Chatfield101
We recently had a tree cut down in our back garden. We?d like to keep the timber as logs for the fire but need someone to cut them down to size. Don?t feel comfortable or confident in handling a chainsaw to rent and do ourselves! And can?t find what to look on google for this service. Please help! Droid
Hopefully it's hardwood ( eg oak) otherwise it's not worth the effort. Then, bear in mind you will have to dry- store the rounds for 18 months to let them dry before splitting into firewood. That aside, sawing the logs into sections should only be done using a log saw horse. This gives stability and is the only safe way to do the job using a chain saw. I made one myself when we had a big oak tree chopped down. It was made from 4x2" wood and I passed it on through the forum last year. To buy one costs around ?30.If you get a saw horse organised then I can do the job for you. Meanwhile what is the max diameter of the logs involved?
