Hi Guys (and ladies among you.....)

I previously made suggestions of 2 more 'players' for the game on the 18th - one definite bowler (a practised overarm) and the other, well I'm not overly sure, but he's willing.....

Regards equipment, not sure what is required, shamefully I think I may have suggested that hubbie's cricket gear was 'recycled' a couple of seasons ago due to lack of use - please tell me there's a communal ED box?

Looking forward to a sun-filled day of cricket, as promised will be there with cake - just let me know the details.

x

Yeah Piers - we've got you down for the 18th. If there's a problem - i.e. it's too soon - we can move it but it'd leave us with a hole in our fixture list we've got to fill. I'd prefer not to.

Anyway, try and get a net in beforehand and make sure you've got 11. Last year we both struggled but this year people are getting more involved.

As a cricket team we pride ourselves not on our sporting ability but our ability to lay on the best tea and cakes in all of South London - so that's something to look forward to!

    • I get that bit - it's the "we all win"  bit I didn't understand if I look at world, countries I most subscribe to are the ones where taxes are raised significantly, the economy continues to thrive and the rewards lead to a fairer economic outcome - including countries where actual pension income is a lot more  https://www.almondfinancial.co.uk/pension-breakeven-index-how-does-the-uk-state-pension-compare-to-the-rest-of-europe/   but a decent social fund requires chancellor "winning"
    • Pretty sure it’s the same everywhere in Southwark in that the area around a marked cycle parking bay is geofenced - presumably to encourage riders to use the bays.
    • They are very funny at the Herne Hill Oxfam, for a charity book shop, about accepting book donations. Last time I tried to drop off a few bags the woman there was quite cross so I took them right back out, and I will not go back again. Definitely had this very same conversation on this forum before, including about the parking. That time I drove them over to a different charity bookshop in Streatham where - shock horror - they thanked me. And since then I've taken other books in smaller quantities to local charity shops.
