Peckham Rye and Nunhead & Queens Rd Ward community meeting tomorrow at 6.30pm

Recommended Posts

This is a zoom meeting to discuss issues mainly for the two wards, if you live in the part of East Dulwich or HOP to the east of Forest Hill and to the north of HOP station, you are in Peckham Rye Ward. To attend, you'll need to register in advance via the link.

Thanks

Renata

Hi Cllr Hamvas, just reading the invite is it right to think that a chunk of the meeting is to discuss the potential LTN proposals being advocated by Better Streets Southwark / Nunhead Streets for life? I saw their flyer the other day and sounds similar (see attachment).

    • DKH was two form entry, it is now one form entry to cope with the fact it was far more under subscribed than other schools in the area. They had actually combined year groups into single classes, 3/4 and 5/6.  When a school changes name, it’s usually because of a bad reputation perhaps the results.  The new name is dry with no history unlike its current name. It’s a very sketchy decision. It’s an expensive vanity project for someone.  What  will happen if the name change does not increase applications to the school?
    • @first mate I assume Alice made a mistake, as she removed her reaction.  I was wondering about park wardens. As I said, there was one there last night, who was incredibly helpful and proactive. As well as bringing me to the police, he caught up with a young guy on a bike who'd earlier been the victim of an attempted theft by these kids and linked him up with the police too. But I do wonder, as I've only very occasionally seen him riding around, how many they have and what hours they patrol. I've no doubt they'd be a strong deterrent if they had a better presence. They were nowhere to be seen the first time around.  Update: I've just found this: https://services.southwark.gov.uk/community-safety/community-wardens The guy in the photo at the bottom of the page was the lovely warden of last night and I've just now remembered him telling me he's based in Burgess Park. Anyway, there needs to be more of them, as I rarely see one in Peckham.
