Should be within catchment for Goose Green as its very close and probably St John's and Bessemer too.

However popularity of schools can change quickly and catchments can shrink or expand depending upon a number of factors including bulge classes and their effect on nearby schools easing the pressure on their places, subsequent shrinking of places available due to greater number of sibling priority places following a bulge.

St Johns is also a church school and has 50% church places for children whose parents are practising Christians so if you fulfilled that criteria the catchment would probably be wider.

I would have thought that it is a good location to buy in terms of getting into a good local primary school.

Good luck

We're in Lacon and Goose Green and St John's are the closest. I agree with Mrs Lotte: preferred schools change over the years and whereas Heber seems to be the most popular choice at the mo', it could be GG in a few years time. GG is certainly on the up.

BTW, Lacon is a great location. Walking distance to the station and the park, and spitting distance to LL and the market. It's also very quiet and the police assured us that the drive-by shooting a year or so back was not connected to any of the road's residents.

Good luck and if you buy, welcome!

No joke. My wife and I returned home one evening to find Lacon Road sealed off and the police on hands and knees with torches searching for (I presume) casings. Turned out a few shots had been fired (at what I'm not sure) from the back of a scooter. There's a thread on here somewhere (sorry, haven't worked out how to link to threads).

Didn't here much about it after that night, save a visit from the police asking if we saw anything. No denial or confirmation that the perp was shooting at a particular person or house. They did reassure us that they believed those involved were not local.

All part of living in ED, LM!

motorbird83 - pls don't think for a minute that this incident is a general reflection of ED or Lacon. Both are friendly and relatively safe in my experience.

Thanks Chillaxed. You've made me slightly nervous but haven't quite put me off. I already live locally so know the area is generally quite safe by SE London standards. Glad to hear there are people happy with Goose Green living on the road. I supposed the new primary schools that are being proposed on the hospital site might also cover this area in future too so it seems better covred than I realised.

    • Signed, and I will share it elsewhere, thank you for posting this. It's got nearly 70,000 signatures at present, and apparently runs till February.
    • There’s a couple of Gov petitions going on in relation to fireworks at the moment but this one is for banning them entirely except organised displays if anyone wants to sign. This is the only sensible way forward in my view. No one should be able to let them off in gardens or anywhere like that, it’s crazy. I am surprised some of you have said it hasn’t been as bad this year. I live near DKH Saino and it’s been absolutely terrible my way for days. This petition gained about 20,000 just in the last day or so so clearly the appetite is there! https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/732559
    • I'd have thought they could use some of  their income from hiring out a large part of Brockwell Park in the summer (therefore, as I understand it, preventing local residents from using much of it) to put on a firework display there  in the autumn which might somewhat make up to those residents for the previous loss of use of the park. And also generate goodwill.
    • Clicking on your name, I see you've made seven posts on here since you joined  around four years ago, and they've all been about local libraries. And none of the posts are  very pleasant. Care to share with the rest of us where  your particular interest in libraries comes from? Do you work in one of them?
