We moved surgeries after the birth of our son after being told that there were no appointments for his 6 week checkup two weeks before the 6 weeks. Best thing we have ever done. Now at Nunhead Lane Surgery who are excellent and cannot be faulted.

More often than not I struggle to string even a vaguely positive sentence together regarding DMC, so I feel I should at least describe my experience of dealing with them this week which was positive.

I rang up at 8am, didn't get through a few times as the line was busy, so was expecting to not get through at all, but by around 8.05 I got connected and was delighted when the message came up saying I was only 2nd in the queue. I got through to reception after about 1 minute waiting and was given an appointment for 10.10. I was seen pretty much bang on time too.

It is sad that I was actually totally shocked about a.) getting through at all and b.) being given a same-day appointment. Whilst it would have been nice to have seen my regular gp, that wasn't particularly a problem in this instance (I expect if I'd wanted to see her I'd have had to wait a lifetime as usual) I also appreciate this is no good for people who work normal Mon-Fri hours, but it felt like it could be a step in the right direction...maybe? Unless I was just extraordinarily lucky of course.

Anyway, just thought I'd share this as I've shared negative views about DMC in the past, so thought it only fair to share a positive experience now that I've had one...

Started calling at 8 got through after 3 tries and got a 10 to 10am appt. First time that's happened!

Maybe they are actually managing to get things fixed.
