Can anyone explain how to access basic information about classes and timetables available without having first to submit a load of contact details and also agree to T&C's to the national private company subcontracted to run the place?

Perhaps the centre is closed but it does not feel right that details of activities available to residents cannot be accessed without first submitting personal information.

It is very badly organised, but the information you want is there, I think.

They seem to have gone out of their way to make the information difficult to find. Rest assured, it's not just you. That info is very well hidden!

It's very irritating. As soon as sessions are put live for booking all the spaces are gone within a few minutes. But then when you go to the session, it's typically less than half full.

But unfortunately, this is a Dulwich specific problem.

Oh, that?s annoying. Forest Hill is run by Better, not Everyone Active, so I haven?t ever tried there.

The other local-ish EA pools don?t seem to have this problem, or at least not to the same extent. Try Peckham if you can get over there. 37 bus? Loads of open spaces - even for today. Or Camberwell (gets booked up too, but you can normally find a session 2 to 3 days ahead) or the Castle Centre (generally good availability but they hire out the entire pool quite a lot) - both direct on the 176.

Hopefully they will all go back to open timetabled sessions soon. I heard October from staff at the Queen Mum, but I don?t think they actually know any more than we do!

I think the health centre is going back to direct control under Southwark...I'm staying hopeful...but let's see. I miss my swim, it's just too much bother. It was lovely when they had the swim-only membership years ago, not sure why they stopped, probably wanted to make more profit?

    • I didn't realise that either! I thought it just meant division within communities - religious, racial or otherwise.  Yes, it is frightening. The days of the broad church political party are over.
    • So I've done a little more research into the current use of the word, I hadn't realised it had latterly been used to describe anti Muslim feelings. Still don't like the use of the word. These are horrible times and am fearful for the future.
    • Oh I didn't realised Starmer had used the word. I don't mean they are stirring up division between themselves (ie between Reform and Greens), I mean they are stoking division within communities, and stirring up racial prejudice and religious discrimination. That is sectarianism, in my view.
    • Just to repeat the news I was given – it's not being converted into a pub. As far as I know, there's no intention of dumbing down their restaurant offering.  Although as others have pointed out, Camberwell has two pubs – The Camberwell Arms and now the Michelin-starred Kerfield Arms – with excellent food. The Palmerston used to be the only pub in ED that was of such quality, but sadly no longer IMHO.
