  1. Both services are in the same building, but they refuse to communicate, so if there isn't a free GP, they tell you to call 111 to be able to see the SELDOC. For me I knew what I had, I knew the prescription I needed - a GP would have been able to sort it out in a matter of a minute or less. Instead they advised me to go to King's A&E. The idea was that TJ was supposed to be a community service - providing local amenities so we did not need to go to A&E and sit there for 14 hrs just for a prescription for antibiotics. It should have all been an in-house, non-profit service with seamless connections, GPs, physios, nurse-led clinics, pharmacist-led clinics and diagnostics on-site - we were even promised a minors and minor surgery. A wasted opportunity and now a service not fit for purpose.
  2. I think he is aligned with the left, but has allowed his own career to get in the way of what are supposedly his fundamental beliefs. I don't trust any 'politician' who changes their commentary to advance their own career, I can see why he has taken this journey, I like the person, but not someone I would vote for now.
  3. If every patient leaves the practice and joins another practice and also makes an official compliant I imagine that this will have impact.
  4. Happens every school day on East Dulwich Grove, along with some exceedingly dangerous U turns and of course adding to the school run traffic chaos. Unfortunately it is private school traffic, so huge SUVs, not local traffic and the drivers tend to be very, very entitled. My solution, take all private schools into public ownership and kids go to schools local to them so they can walk/cycle.
  5. If it looks like a troll, sounds like a troll and smells like a troll.....it’s a troll. If ignored they eventually go back to their little troll cave.
  6. I walk down East Dulwich Grove and see messy, littered and unsafe pavements, holes in the road and blocked drains that cause huge puddles when it rains - making it unsafe for cyclists and an unpleasant walk when cars go through the puddles, litter and waste not cleared for days - Southwark really needs to sort out the basics so we can live in safe and clean areas. I say this as a Green Party member - all for environmental and green policy, but priorities please!
  7. I have copied this from the other post about TJ.. make sure you complain to the correct organisation as there have been recent changes in NHS England. If anyone wants to complain about GP services, the newly set up South East London ICS (transferring from the old CCG) is the place to go - they commission local services (so they are the ones paying the s**t show company for the terrible GP 'service' at Tessa Jowell) You can make a complaint verbally, in writing or by email. If you wish to complain about a hospital, community or mental health provider please contact those directly. If you have any comment or complaint regarding the commissioning of a service please contact the Patient Experience Team at: Email: [email protected] Tel: 0800 328 9712 or 0208 176 5337 https://www.selondonics.org Andrew Bland is the CEO... there is a whole website dedicated on how to complain by going straight to the CEO, I have used this tactic before with excellent results, takes a bit of time and one needs to write a very polite and professional letter in order to have impact.
  8. I'm not sure it's about outcomes I want - if only. My choice would be free, fair and democratic elections in Russia, a free press and it not a dictatorship pretending to be a democracy. Putin will not stand down and slowly the 'West' will stop providing arms to Ukraine - I think that will be a terrible outcome for Ukranians. Maybe both sides giving way in some small way will produce a better outcome - I don't think there are any 'good' outcomes, just less 'bad ones' sadly.
  9. An interesting article - about a year old. I don't completely agree with all of it, but I think the author has a good grasp of the current situation. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2022/apr/27/ukraine-war-end-putin-russia-talks There is also the issue of arms and weaponry meant for Ukraine turning up in Africa and being used by unsavoury groups. https://www.europarl.europa.eu/doceo/document/E-9-2023-000805_EN.html Putin is too invested in this war and will not end it, doesn't matter to him how many Russians and Ukrainians die and the west will never directly fight Russia as too afraid of WW3, so Ukraine will slowly be destroyed. Diplomacy is really the only way out.
  10. Do you think that that the Ukraine/ Russia conflict will be resolved through more bombs/guns/death or by some diplomatic resolution. I'm sure we all agree that Putin is a dictator and warmonger, that there is no defence and no rationale for invading Ukraine. But where are we now? No end of the conflict and no resolution. Meanwhile - big profits for BAE. Personal attacks are also not appropriate on this forum, even if you do not agree with someone's opinion or point of view. My Quaker upbringing believes all violence and war is wrong. In the case of Ukraine, opposing war in such a time does not mean staying neutral, allowing injustice to go unchallenged, or doing nothing. Instead, Friends seek ways to engage and fight injustice without killing another human being. Peace is not only a moral stance; it can also be a practical solution, Avdiivka is ruined and desperate after 2 years of Russian attack and billions spent on weapons- maybe there is another way? and gas companies - https://www.greenpeace.org/international/publication/59432/who-profits-from-war/
  11. profit for shareholders? https://www.theguardian.com/business/2024/feb/21/bae-systems-profit-ukraine-israel-gaza-wars-ftse-100?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
  12. Complain - it's the only way to have any actions. Make it clear that the health professionals are providing a good service at the point of use, but the administration of those services is not adequate and give detail. I imagine the reception staff have been given explicit instructions to provide appointments only via the routes that they have been told to follow - they are probably frustrated as well.
  13. Yep - just sit in there until someone comes to see you, be polite but firm. 14. I have been in a similar situation with my partner and their chronic condition. I went there and sat in the waiting room until someone came to see us. I have left and gone to another GP now, my partner remains there for the time being. I think Southwark News should investigate the s**t show of this City-Boy run GP practice in this building funded by public money.
  15. Partnerships always existed, but large organisations like Concordia got ‘in’ when the Tory government broke up the local provider networks and panned it all out for the lowest bidder. Private companies used to complex contracting made mincemeat of low level ‘buyers’ in the NHS (these support staff were being paid around 20k a year and were used to contacting for supplies rather than writing very tight documents), unfortunately they were naive in the face of very high level legal and contact teams in large organisations. Mainly because when the provider networks were broken up all the senior staff who knew about contacting were made redundant.... and were snapped up by the private organisations. The seniority and experience was lost from the NHS, the Tory Government and public blasting about ‘overpaid managers’ lost all of this level....leaving juniors to take on these contracts. It led to ridiculous situations when some organisations were only following up healthy individuals because ‘urgent’ and ‘non-elective care’ was not covered by the contact. I know because I was there as a clinical manager and witnessed the utter chaos. I also had ‘dealings’ with Concordia for a different contract when they wanted clinical advice from me. When I suggested quality controls and expert analysis they were not interested.... cheap and profitable was the only aim of the setup.
  16. It is terrible, my partner experienced the same issues. It's even worse than the original Melbourne Grove Practice that moved there. It is run by a private company...the incompetence for both me and my partner across the last 3 years is astounding. I have left. https://www.nhsforsale.info/private-providers/concordia-health-new/
  17. You were lucky, I'm usually confronted with a buggy, bicycle, scooter combo from the mummies and daddies of Alleyn's JAGs, Judith Kerr - hitting the back of my legs, not letting me pass and forcing me into hedges or the road.... I agree - entitled and rude.
  18. Terrible idea, this cross-road is heavily pedestrianised during the school run. This from the council who advocate 'active travel'. I walk this way most days and the islands are a safe zone for pedestrians. Removing them is extraordinarily foolish and dangerous. Junction planning by this council has been awful for years, with Townley - EDG being the worse and most messed around of the bunch - still at least the planner did well out of their mess.
  19. Remember when flaws were found in certain publications, from academics with ties to LCC and Sustrans that supported LTNs as a way to reduce car use and traffic - even on non-LTN roads. The flaws outlined showed that traffic had increased on high-density housing 'sacrificial' roads. And yet the statisticians, academia and clan-air activists that pointed out these flaws were accused of many 'sins'.... Well - here we are https://www.theguardian.com/science/2024/jan/29/sholto-david-biologist-finds-flaws-in-scientific-papers
  20. I love real black pudding and was very surprised by the vegan version....weirdly similar to a cheap ‘real’ version. We had homemade daal tarka and vaala urid daal with rotis yesterday, entirely vegan, entirely delicious 😋 Burn’s night was Scottish humour in a way, about how awful the food was..... of course Scottish cuisine now is amazing with all the produce, but then. Haggis 🤮
  21. I have one in my freezer..... but try SMBS on Lordship Lane, they usually have them, but might have run out by now?? Or forget veggie haggis (too salty) and have vegan black pudding instead. Or go for the more traditional Scottish delicacy - powsowdie 🤢
  22. They are obsessed... just clean our roads of leaves, litter and dog poo, empty the bins and keep our storm drains working..... please stop with this nonsense!
  23. East Dulwich Grove where children walk to school hasn’t been cleaned for ages, slippery and dangerous. Calton Avenue, cleaned on a regular basis. If you live on a wealthy street your road is cleaned more often....have noticed this for years.....
