The Goose Green School Community Choir is opening up to new members from the local community. You don't need to have a child at the school - just be interested in joining a choir and free on a Tuesday evening!

We are a friendly choir with bags of enthusaisam - not many of us have musical or singing experience so if you are interested in joining but you haven't sung much before don't worry! You'll fit right in!

We meet on Tuesday evenings at Goose Green School from 6:30-7:30pm. We sing a mix of folk, pop arrangements and world music. We have a musical director - Dan Maitland - who leads us.

Fees: Sliding Scale - ?20 or ?12 (low income) per 6 week half-term

We perform at school events like the summer carnival/fair and the Christmas carol service. We have alot of fun singing and although many of us started off feeling self-conscious, we soon got over that as the group is very supportive and friendly.

If you are interested, send me a private message and I'll give you the details of where in the school we meet etc. etc.

Just a note to say the choir is starting up again on Tuesday after the half-term break - we are working on the Sweet Honey in the Rock tune 'Breaths', California Dreamin; and a gospel version of Stand By Me. If you would like to come along, just send me a message so I can tell you where to go!

Hello again!

The new term for the choir starts on Tuesday 10th September, 6:30pm. If you would like to join a friendly and relaxed community choir, we'd love to have you! Many of us have no prior singing experience but we have great fun. Our talented musical director Dan Maitland leads us and does arrangements of favourite pop songs for us. Please email me - the choir secretary - at [email protected] if you are interested or PM me. Thanks!

    • Not really the point, though? I doubt cyclists who dress like this in the dark are or have been car drivers? Surely if they were they would be more aware of visibility issues? They are a real danger to themselves and others.
    • One more cyclist one less driver.  Big picture.
    • If the cyclist wasn't wearing lights and hi viz, did it really happen..........?
    • I don't think anyone here is claiming the Torygraph is the paragon of good reporting, or impartiality. I was referring to media organisations across the spectrum, and I opened it wide up, way beyond the BBC.  But, to your point, if you're making a programme about abortion, say, you're not going to interview the man/woman on the street with a moderate view, you're always going to go to the people at the extreme ends, that's the point of the exercise, right? And most people watching innately know what's objectively right and wrong, because mainly they're decent people who've had the privilege of growing up in a liberal, free-thinking, tolerant democracy.  There have always been despicable people, and there always will be. Things feel worse at the moment because of the immediacy of media, but maybe they aren't. One day, Trump will be a blip in history and everyone will be consumed with the next big problem. Probably a genocidal robot.
