Internal porch is very cold

Hi,

My internal porch is extremely cold. The internal door always need to be closed to contain the cold air in the porch so that it doesn't get into the house. Does anyone else have this problem and has anyone fixed it?

Internal porches are normally unheated spaces, if so, they will feel a lot colder than the rest of the house.

You could always try draughtproofing the door, or even upgrade the door/glass to double glazed if single glazed...

The general idea of the porch is to contain the air while you take shoes and coat off etc - so it doesn't enter the house as much as it would if it were a single door. If you heat a porch the second you leave the house the heat leaves to from the porch. You can draughtproof or DG as Red above said but again as soon as you open the door the cold air will get sucked in - so is the expense worth it ? I imagine everyone with a small porch has the same issue. Spring soon anyway.

We have our second door closed all the time and a heavy velvet curtain drawn across it during winter. Keeps the heat in and the porch cold but as we are only dumping coats and scarves there it's not too bad.
