  1. Suggest they try MIC Centre - http://www.micentre.com/ - and ask for a family room. There is also the Aston Apartments which is where we used to stay when visiting with the kids from New Zealand - www.astons-apartments.com. Again enquire re the family rooms.
  2. We have our second door closed all the time and a heavy velvet curtain drawn across it during winter. Keeps the heat in and the porch cold but as we are only dumping coats and scarves there it's not too bad.
  3. The only one I know of is in Lewisham. Have you tried the Scarlet Peacock? They may have a recommedation for a repairer AND they also hire out machines to ease your girlfriend's stress levels a little - http://www.thescarletpeacock.co.uk/
  4. God awful coffee in the North Cross Rd one on Saturday. Will be heading back to Luca's as usual.
  5. How did he get all that info about you? Weird. Hope you feel safe soon.
  6. There have been 2 similar discussions on th forum recently - http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,837871 and http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1037654
  7. recent media coverage on the West Island aka Australia is that Sydney and Melbourne are now both in the top 5 of cities most expensive to live in, worldwide. Even more expensive than London - http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/feb/04/sydney-melbourne-expensive-cities
  8. Great service, friendly staff. recommend it.
  9. dunno but I can smell it too and its pretty strong
  10. You guys are aware of Ngati Ranana, the NZ Society, Kiwis in London, etc aren't you? Great groups and Ngati Ranana has a lovely Maori/Pakeha (well anyone really) wee group fr kids to learn about NZ culture.
  11. We are moving back home to NZ after 6 years away. Been back regularly & active in NZ community in Lomdon. PM me & I'm hap to arrange a time to chat. Can also put you in touch with some NZ copper if you want first hand accounts. Drugs & 'gangs' in prisons is no different than here - nothing like the US & pretty much all related to methamphetamine these days.
  12. Under the new regulations you simply won't be able to. http://www.royalmail.com/sites/default/files/International-prohibitions-and-restrictions-leaflet-consumers_0.pdf

    Horse meat

It's started..... the iceberg begins to reveal itself. Now they find pork in Waitrose beef meatballs. http://www.itv.com/news/story/2013-02-07/findus-horse-meat-lasagne/ Why is it so hard to know what is in the food we eat?
  14. I just wish the 3-4 foxes who keep coming into our garden and tearing apart their food - count so far some birds, 1 small cat & a chicken - would be fed by some of you who seem so keen to care for them. I'm the one left clearing up the bodies bits in the aftermath. They are getting worse & more aggressive. I had 2 bare their teeth & snarl at me around 10pm last week on Crystal Palace Rd. Brolly in hand I was ready but thankfully my yelling sent them running. When I got closer they had left behind their catch & had obviously been defending it. Anyone missing a guinea pig?
  15. Due to the overwhelming response to this, I can no longer offer assistance. All who have PMed me will be getting a response in the next hour or so. It's a pity I am leaving as there is definitely a need for this type of service!

  17. If you want to send perfume overseas now you need to use an online site and have it delivered locally. Haven't used it but a friend recommended it for US - http://www.perfumebee.com/ One for Australia - http://www.myperfume.com.au/
  18. Brockley market - good quality and reasonably priced. http://www.brockleymarket.com/contact-us/
  19. Another one? Is the property market doing that well in ED?
  20. Lordship Lane Medical Centre - http://www.306medicalcentre.nhs.uk/index.aspx - is lovely (just down near the Plough Pub end, opposite Crystal Palace Rd). Very responsive doctors, nice nurses and reception staff and warm waiting room. Never had to wait more than 24 hours for an appointment and once when too sick to get out of bed, they called me to check I was ok. Nice people.
  21. We are leaving the UK and heading home to New Zealand in a few weeks. I have already left full-time work so rather than twiddle my thumbs (all the moving stuff is sorted) I thought I'd offer some of my time. I see loads of great opportunities to engage with customers going begging by simple things not being done well in many small businesses. Therefore I am willing to help any local (ED) small business owners with an hour or two of free consultancy advice on social media basics. Things like using Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn to best advantage. I am a marketing and social media director with a speciality in customer experience. I have with 20+ years experience and have spent the past 7 years working in a global role working internationally. PM me if you are interested.
  22. Horniman Museum is a must - went there for the first time on Wed and blown away by how good it is

Yep couldn't agree more balanceforlife. Great meat, fish, greengrocers, cheese, organic veg. ED is really lucky to have such great shops.
  24. Just found out about this group. Not a member but seems like a great way of networking local business in ED - http://www.bobclubs.com/club/east-dulwich

    Veet: for Men

Sounds like a chemical reaction. I can't use the stuff and have scars as the reaction from a previous attempt was so severe.
