Another option is to join a union i.e. GMB. You'll get free advice & representation for employment issues as part of your membership.

Elizabeth Lang, Bird and Bird. Have referred a lot of people to her, inc family members. She is excellent.

She is a senior partner so expensive but she has a team of people she supervises some of whom will be more affordable.

Look at your home buildings and contents insurance and see if you have family legal protection - it won't cover you for initial advice but if you need to take action relating to employment then they will fund a solicitor (within limits).

i uswed leigh day who were good but expensive but big guns. i also used thackray williams in bromley who were cheaper and informed.
