You can't get a hygienist on the NHS can you?

It used to be that dentists did a clean and polish as an integral part of every checkup, but not any more, I dont think, unless they take pity on you 😬

While this is true, I'm guessing that for a lot of London based dentists, that are willing to treat on the NHS, push patients towards the hygenist as a means of saving/making money.

A few years ago I stopped using the dentist on North Cross Road (Smile ?) because they always charged me Band 2 even though the treatment was Band 1 and their argument was that I received a scale and polish.

I now go to the Gardens where I only am charged for the Band 1 but I don't even get a scale and polish for which I am expected to go to their hygenist.

Like a lot of things it's all about money at the end of the day.

My NHS Dentist who I've been with for around 35 years has always done a clean with the check-up. Wasn't called a hygienist then just a check up and polish. They've been open a while now and I've got my first check up and clean next week and I can't wait!

I won't be giving out their details just in case they get booked up.

    • Disagree. Where are the police when you need them? People want a police presence, they want to feel reassured by seeing them do what the word suggests, policing, so go catch some bad guys, arrest, charge and get the CPS to prosecute with the evidence to enable this to happen. Stabbing and shootings are so common place they no longer even get reported in the public domain. How many crimes don't get solved? Rather case closed and forgotten. The number of low to high level crimes which remain unsolved is staggering.  The criminal fraternity know this, they know they won't get caught so they just carry on.  Biggest crimes which affect most people, probably are phone and car theft, both are prolific and what do the police do, diddly squat. zilch, nothing, provide a crime reference number and the case is closed. Not good enough, not by a country mile.   Met Engage? I don't think so.

Recent data suggests a drop in violent crime. Gang violence will make a significant contribution to the numbers. You are unlikely to be attacked by a stranger
    • Unfortunately there are plenty of shops which don't care and will sell vapes, alcohol and weed to minors, I'm sure they won't care about selling them fireworks. Or the kids nick them.
    • It’s getting a bit annoying. We’ve a nervous dog who trembles when they go off. I know to expect it around Halloween and Diwali but it seems to be happening more through the year.
