Rides for Saturday Week, 27th November

NOTE. You must register on Eventbrite so we can limit numbers, links below.

For Sat 27th Nov we have a 2.5 hour ride and a 3.5 hour ride planned, see below. When you register on Eventbrite, link details below, please give a phone number as it may be needed for Track and Trace. If you cannot make it, please cancel so that someone else can take the place.

London?s Flood Risk ? Peckham to Tower Bridge Loop There is plenty of space on this ride.

Maybe appropriately, last time we tried this ride there was very heavy rain and this vastly reduced numbers. Hoping for less precipitation we are trying again. Start/finish in Peckham Square, next to Peckham Library and Peckham Pulse Leisure Centre. 10am start. Simon S. in his role as Climate Safe Streets champion for Southwark Cyclists has planned this ride to highlight the risk of flooding in London, something that will increase with global warming. Route will go between the river and the projected 2030 flood line. Route passes many points of interest including Stompie the tank, Del boy?s Reliant Robin, some WWII stretchers, Iliffe Yard artisan workshops and Royal Surrey Zoological Gardens (Pasley Park). Will be about 10miles, 2.5 hours which gives us time for a coffee stop at the Little Cat Caf? in Myatt's Field Park. Will as usual ride as much as possible on quiet streets and paths.

Burgess Park to Wandsworth and Putney . This ride is full (sorry) but you can go on the Wait List. Something often turns up.

Start/Finish Burgess Park (Fuorvito Cafe, Chumleigh Gardens, Off Albany Rd. SE5 0RJ). Idea is to explore a bit further west on the south side of the river. Burgess Park is on the west edge of Southwark, so the obvious place to start. Outward route will go via Vauxhall and Battersea Power Station to Battersea Park. Then round the park and on to the nice paths along the Battersea and Wandsworth riverside, eventually reaching Wandsworth Park. Will then go a further ? km and have a look at the rowers on the Putney Embankment. Coffee break in Wandsworth Park during return, but sadly no time for a round on the well-maintained Crazy Golf Course. Return route has great contrasts. Back along the river to the bridge over Bell Lane Creek, the mouth of the River Wandle. Then head south into Wandsworth town centre along shared use pavement and across cycle crossings to avoid the traffic on the 1-way system. Next King George?s Park with a nice path by the Wandle. At the south end of the park, turn left and start heading home via Wandsworth and Clapham Commons. Fairly flat route, 28km, a lot of park and riverside is traffic free. Route at

    • Malumbu, you're absolutely right. The vet bills due to attacks on neighbouring cats are certainly not insignificant at all. The wounds can even lead to fatalities. I always urge clients, neighbours & community posters to target the root cause, as opposed to skirting around the underlying & often persistent issue. Connecting with local organisations like Celia Hammond Animal Trust, Cats Protection or Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) initiatives is a longterm solution. This is heighlighted, although briefly, under Improving Community Wellbeing. - I'd also like to highlight that if ever unsure whether the culprit is intact, owned or feral, & are hesitant to report, just in case it's a neighbour's neutered cat, you can call upon a Scan Angel or our team at TWB to check for a microchip first. - If the culprit does happen to be a neighbour's neutered cat, there are a variety of solution; both immediate & longterm that I would be more than happy to help with. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me at [email protected]
    • Also wanted to leave my recommendation for Lukasz. He came completely on time, was highly efficient, did everything we asked and more without charging extra and left the place immaculate. A real gem - we will definitely use him again!
    • Not sure if you added Tomd that have not been neutered terrorising other cats in the area.  Happened round here.  Would have been tempted to castrate the tom if I'd caught it.  Water pistol was not a deterrent.  Vets bills due to various attacks on other moggies was not insignificant
    • That's good news. I saw that DVillage is also being renovated. Now the pavement in front is wider and flatter with the recent works, they'll have a nice setup indoors and outdoors.
