Spartacus
The real question is Regardless of political party or current role in government or shadow governents, who would you vote for as prime minister if there was an election tomorrow ? To be honest my choice is simply none of the current MPs Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/299494-defending-the-indefensible-another-pm-thread/page/13/#findComment-1574368 Share on other sites
JohnL
Tom Tugendhat seems to be the closest who aren't in the tight Boris Clique in the Tories.Nobody around seems to have the gravitas of even Gordon Brown and he had his problems. diable rouge
There's been plenty of U-turns under Johnson's Gov, but the one today on whether Tory MPs could have a free vote on an investigation into whether Johnson misled parliament, rather than whipped to vote to block it, does feel significant.Could be a sign that Johnson has lost control of his backbenchers, despite having such a huge majority. Waseley
Funny how the term defend the indefensible was used today in parliament. Moovart
Are then any MPs who are decent people who actually achieve anything of any importance? Not just write letters that have no effect.Or are the only things that MPs effectively influence and change are those things that are self serving and ego boosting. Is it possible to be an effective MP who achieves useful things of local or national importance without being self serving and egotistical. It's a genuine question, I'm trying to think of a good and successfully influential one. malumbu
My word even the Leader of the Opposition is using this term now. What did I start. Interesting that he is distancing himself from the current misogyny row. Strange times. You can always tell when an official has carefully created a response - no doubt with briefing not to crack a joke or go off on a strange tangent aka dead cat. diable rouge
It's hilarious watching Johnson having to be 'woke' because there's been a backlash against the Mail on Sunday's awful misogynistic attack on Rayner, something he was probably 'aware of' before publication...
