Anyone go to Sainsbury's today about 11am?

Little social distancing being displayed by customers.

a) Lack of available trolley's

b) They had vast amounts of fresh vegetables, double stacked; parsnips, potatoes, carrots, cauliflower.

c) Hardly any loose mushrooms

d) Lots of bananas

e) Little or no soft fruits

f) No milk

g) Plenty of cheese, butter, goose fat etc.

h) No shortcrust pastry

The pre-Christmas food order service was a bit hit and miss, not a long queue, staff trying hard and doing their best. Email printed voucher not working, so staff handing out a pre-printed copy.

Check outs were moving quickly and short queues.

Previous year has seen long checkout queues on Christmas Eve.

Queuing outside the Cheese Block shop, less so at Mons, looked like a long queue also outside Moxon's, William Rose looked like a short queue.

Most Christmas looking shop has to be Jumping Bean, well done guy's.

If you're going down the lane tomorrow or to Sainsbury's DKH, good luck.

Short crust is easy to make - and you can put cheese in it to make it even nicer!

230g plain flour

Pinch salt, pinch of sugar

100g cold butter, diced

100g parmesan finely grated (or a bit less strong cheddar)

Wiz to breadcrumbs in mixer

add around tbsp cold water

Make dough - shove in fridge - take out and use

    • DKH was two form entry, it is now one form entry to cope with the fact it was far more under subscribed than other schools in the area. They had actually combined year groups into single classes, 3/4 and 5/6.  When a school changes name, it’s usually because of a bad reputation perhaps the results.  The new name is dry with no history unlike its current name. It’s a very sketchy decision. It’s an expensive vanity project for someone.  What  will happen if the name change does not increase applications to the school?
    • @first mate I assume Alice made a mistake, as she removed her reaction.  I was wondering about park wardens. As I said, there was one there last night, who was incredibly helpful and proactive. As well as bringing me to the police, he caught up with a young guy on a bike who'd earlier been the victim of an attempted theft by these kids and linked him up with the police too. But I do wonder, as I've only very occasionally seen him riding around, how many they have and what hours they patrol. I've no doubt they'd be a strong deterrent if they had a better presence. They were nowhere to be seen the first time around.  Update: I've just found this: https://services.southwark.gov.uk/community-safety/community-wardens The guy in the photo at the bottom of the page was the lovely warden of last night and I've just now remembered him telling me he's based in Burgess Park. Anyway, there needs to be more of them, as I rarely see one in Peckham.
