Foxy's Xmas..

I'm Back Home but where have I been ...

Well 0n the 24th December I decided to go out for a Haircut...

Nice cut at Jazz Lordship Lane..

Time for some last minute Xmas Shopping.

Cross the road to the Co-op.. No Baskets.. Off to M&S

Where outside I suddenly found myself 'On The Deck'

I had fallen cracked my head on the road and not being able to get up... move with a broken right hip.

The staff at M&S were marveloous and their First Aid Team attended to me.

They called emergency services.

There was The Fox lying onthe floor , head in the road inches from Passing traffic /Buses

A Passing Ambulance stopped to attend to me after being flagged down by a large crowd that had gathered.

I wastaken to King's where I was admitted.

I spent a few nights 24-27th Decmber where I was given Doses of Morphine.

I felt Dreadful and was Hallucinating Insects hanging from curtain rails and walls..Millions of them

and faces from TV gathing around me.

Finally at the window There was a group of Women (nurses)carrying a wreath and a large Cross.

At this stage I was Covid Positive and was convinced the Angels were there to take me away,

I really thought I was going to die.

I had my hip op the 27th.

I am mixed up with the timings of all events..

But my op had gone well.

Kings then decided to stop my Paracetamol Pain relief for Codeine..

As a result I become Constipated.. I was still eating (Well) but nothing was coming out,

They refused to give me Paracetamol that was leading me on the route to recovery.

They were giving me Laxatives and Codiene ,.... they do not work together.

I fefused more Codiene and was left in Agony

But Kings discharged me 4th Jan with eight different drug to take at different times of the day. I have created a spread sheet ,

I reverted to Paracetamol my choice .. vertually pain free and have now been to the toilet ( 1 Day)

Oh Foxy ,you poor thing! Constipation is the pits and such a close bedfellow with operations .As if you don't feel bad enough.

Nothing compared to the morphine induced hallucinations - I was convinced I was back in the 1950s and those wall mounted anglepoise type lights morphed (see what I did there ? ) into giant crickets .

Let me know if you need a hand with anything .We have met ,I got some proving baskets for sour dough .

For Fox Sake!!!...that's a terrible story Foxy. I hope you're on the mend and the parecetamol is working its magic (at both ends)

As an aside....I actually heard about your fall on Xmas eve (not knowing at teh time it was DulwichFox of EDF fame), as Mrs Cat and the mini-cats were amongst that large crowd that had gathered outside M&S. I did berate her when she finally got home, as to why it took so long to bring my percy pigs back home.....But perhaps I was touch hasty:)

Sorry to hear that. It is not how anyone wants to spend their xmas day, but glad you are home and feeling a bit better.

Every time I've had any sort of spell in hospital, I've ended up completely "bunged up" in that region. Anesthesia and painkillers can cause it.. in fact codeine is renowned for it (and not even that effective unless combined with other painkillers), so seems like an odd choice. Less fluids and physical movement probably play a part too.

Hi Guy ..

Not had any alcholic drink since 23rd Dec. Despite being home since the 4th Jan.

Well I had a small 0.0% Peroni a couple of Nights ago.

Do not miss it at all.

Many Thanks

Did you mention how many times you had a sh*t tho?

That?s the crucial bit you might have missed to boost your numbers.

I'm getting there thank you Sue.

Still troubled by Serious Constipation.

None of the Meds supplied working.

Now trying alternative over the counter remidies.

I have daily Home Help. Not really much for them to do.

Also Having Physio / Exercises couple of times a week.

I have an old friend of mine doing some shopping.

I'm on my feet walking without Frame or Crutches

Can manage stairs ok.

No pain from Hip. just back pain from Constipaion.

Feel better mentally now out of Hospital.

Worried about going out as could be Wet or Icy..

I am getting stronger each day.

Thank you for your concern.

He was maybe late 40s dressed fairly scruffy but not in a stand out way. Unprovoked he said he would ‘knock me out’ and then kept pointing back at me to let me know he was watching me as he headed towards goose green roundabout. It really shook me up as there was no one else around.    I am a woman in her late 30s
    • We've all noticed how once grotty town centres have improved and gentrified over the last decade or so, Deptford, Peckham, Honor Oak, Brockley.  Just count the bars and coffee shops.  Catford is going that way and Lewisham and Forest Hill next.  We are in an affluent area, and the above is more relevant to forgotten towns and areas.
    • Hi All, Apologies if there have been other threads about this. I am really concerned and quite scared about vermin for those of us that live close to the high street. I know they are something we have to accept to an extent but it feels like they are currently being given a welcome and easy ride…I have recently sent the below email to Southwark council, if you feel the similarly I’d encourage you to do the same…  [email protected] if you have suggestions of others I can be in touch with please let me know… Dear Southwark Council, I live at xxxx and am seriously concerned about the way commercial shop and restaurant waste is managed on Lordship Lane high street. Most businesses put their rubbish out on the pavement at the end of the day in Southwark bin bags, which are collected the following morning.  Most mornings they have been ripped open by vermin (rats and foxes) with food waste across the pavements and a slick of oily stains. For those of us that live close to the high street there is a hygiene concern about the state of the pavements and the rats in our gardens and potentially entering and damaging our homes and cars and as well as the risks of illness.  Please advise if you will be reviewing the arrangements to move to a bin system to help with the issue?? Particularly in light of this news on the vast increase of rats in our cities:  https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4gvk397j80o All best, Xxxx
    • @Spartacus It seems a very complex subject and I have no knowledge of the places awarded money but pride of place has many more ingredients than retail.
