Wanted: rec for joiner to make bespoke kitchen or anyone w/ exp of DeVol, Neptune etc

Recommended Posts

In the name of getting a handmade kitchen without the ???, I'm looking for someone to make bespoke cabinet doors to fit existing carcasses. I'm hoping to then spray them or get someone in the know to do it for me. Has anyone done this successfully who can recommend a skilled and not too expensive carpenter?

hi

funnily enough we did exactly this last year in our kitchen!so we kept the existing carcasses and then got new doors, i found Terry Malone from the forum and can only recommend him, as he was a super guy, really diligent and has made agreat job of our new kitchen doors, plus he built a new unit to fit in an awkward left over space too, and was a good price, (we then painted the doors ourselves )

his website is www.terrymalone.co.uk

That's really useful ED32, thanks very much. I'll give Terry a call.

Out of curiosity, did you spray the doors? I imagine painting wouldn't give a very good finish. At least it wouldn't if I were to do it myself...

Hi there, I can highly recommend Local Carpenter/Joiner Jake Dunn, who has undertaken all my carpentry needs. Very creative, bespoke and very fairly priced. Lovely guy to work with, lovely manner and great sense of humour

Good Luck

Am rekindling this thread as Jake Dunn is super busy for the next 12 weeks (obviously very good) and am waiting to hear back from Terry Malone. Has anyone else had a bespoke kitchen made for them? Or alternatively does anyone have experience of using companies that produce handmade shaker style kitchens, such as DeVol, Handmade Kitchens of Christchurch, Neptune etc.

Would love to hear from you if so.

Thanks awfully.

Thanks Sonia, he sounds like just the man. I'll get in touch. Did he paint too or did you get someone else to do that (or do it yourself)? Also, if it isn't asking too much trouble do you have any pics you could send me? If so I'll PM you.

Thanks again.

Used Jake to create access panels for our boiler when it packed up and we discovered the kitchen fitters had boxed it in!Was around the day after I called him, very tidy job, exactly what we wanted and could have stretched the time out for more money but didn't which is very refreshing

    • If you’ve got four quid spare, go and try one. Myself, I like the mozzarella and spinach, but there’s no accounting.

    • You might want to try the Peckham Facebook community group. I am located in East Dulwich & have 2 well-used scratchers: A large single post (ideal for an adult cat) & a small cat tree with 2 short posts (ideal for kittens) While the wear & tear is nowhere near as bad as the one shown in the link below, ideally the sisal should be replaced to get the best use out of it (& neutralise the scent of another cat) hence why I haven't donated these to a shelter. You may find this link helpful: https://thegreenmadhouse.com/diy/how-to-repair-your-cat-scratcher But you can just get a brand new one between £10-£30 on Amazon that'll last much longer. It all depends on what type of scratcher you're looking for; material, size, vertical or horizontal. Your little lion will let you know by whether they're currently scratching down or up, like a mat or armchair for example. More than happy to send location & leave in front garden for pickup.
    • Would happily take it off your hands! Preferably in Peckham. Thanks 🙏🏻
