Charity Shops

Recommended Posts

Hello. We have a number of > clothes that we wish to pass on to a charity shop (the rest will go in the clothes recycling bins). Does anyone have any recommendations for shops on Lordship Lane or nearby? I know there is St Christophers and Shelter, but there may be other options with a greater need.

Meanwhile I'd highly recommend passing on good, clean baby / child clothes and accessories to the Little Village 'baby bank'. I know the founder, she created an incredible organisation doing a great deal of good for families in need.

There is the Mind shop on the corner by Goose Green, the Mary's Giving and ??? shop in Lordship Lane, plus several charity shops in Peckham, Camberwell and the Walworth Road.

I have no idea how you could assess which charity has the greatest need, it would depend on your personal priorities I guess as they are all "good causes".

Some of them seem to have better quality clothes than others.

    • There's a food bank off Dog Kennel Hill. Albrighton Community Fridge. https://www.albrightoncommunityfridge.org/ I'm sure they would welcome them, but maybe check first?
    • Food banks for sure and what about approaching these schools in area that run summer camps - although having said that with health and safety being so strict might not allow it - crazy really.    Can’t remember name of church but was one in Peckham that from memory did a community meal a couple of times a week. Now they for sure would take them and probably Kingswood House as well.
    • We're having a bumper crop of eating apples this year - so many infact that we're wondering what to do with the surplus. Neighbours have had some and we've left some outside the house but I was thinking we could pass some on to a foodbank - or even to Kings if they're allowed to take in fruit?   Suggestions appreciated.
