I used to work in Hooters in Birmingham when it was open and can honestly say it was the best job I have ever had. Yes there were many a stag party but we also used to get regular family diners in too and it is a BEACH THEMED restaurant hense the shorts and T shirts. In fact, there were 2 lovely elderly ladies who used to come in every Thursday just because they liked the desserts. My wages used to get paid into my bank account and I would live off my tips. Many a week end I would end up banking some of them too as I could not spend the money fast enough - it was easy when doing a double shift in one day to walk out with ?100 tax free in tips in my pocket (and 10 years ago that was a lot!)

In America, waiting staff earn the majority of their money from tips so clearly it helps if you can throw customers a bit of banter and a cheeky smile - and why not? It's all harmless flirting fun - not dissimilar and much less obscene to what it appears a lot of people have ended up starting to do on LL on a Sat night.....eugh.
