Brilliant Garden/Gardener/Landscaping, Fencing Recommendation for Exterior Design Gardens

A big thank you and heartfelt recommendation for Exterior Design Gardens [email protected] who have just finished our garden.

Nigel, Oli and Aaron did a fantastic job on a complete revamp of our garden including installing new fencing, laying a paved terrace area, building a beautiful pergola and gymnastics bar, revamping an old brick wall and existing decking, completely prepping the area for planting, building a veg bed and planting up the entire garden.

We had a design and scope of works already but Oli and Nigel offered a lot of great advice with the landscaping and in particular the re-design of the path, sourcing materials and plants. When it came to the planting Nigel suggested we both go to their nursery to look at plants and plan the garden. I had a brilliant and inspiring day choosing plants and trees for the garden and learning all about them from Nigel who offered great advice and support throughout. Nigel also supervised all the planting and planned the layout to superb effect.

It was joyful watching our garden come to life over the two weeks they were here.

Nigel and his team were extremely professional, experienced, patient, polite and very careful to tidy up after themselves everyday. It was a joy to have them work on our garden and we couldn't be happier with the results.

Highly recommended and very reasonably priced.

Thank you so much Julie .

The main reason we do gardening & landscaping is because of the happiness it gives to our customers, that in turn brings us much happiness. Oli, Aaron & I really enjoyed putting your garden together & the challenges it gave us & especially choosing the plants working together to bring you a garden we hope you will enjoy for many seasons to come

I look forward to the colours & textures in the spring, summer & autumn

Once again thank you for your kind words & recommendation

Nigel 🙏

I’m not normally one to leave bad reviews but we had such a shocking experience with Nigel from Exterior Design Gardens that I feel it’s important to share so that others can make an informed decision. The number we were messaging on was 07961888253 and he introduced himself as being from Exterior Design Gardens.

We contact Nigel after seeing positive reviews to build a brick raised bed and lay a small (2x3m) patio in our garden. The quote he provided seemed reasonable so we went ahead and that’s when the problems started.

The guy he sent round to do the work took a couple of hours and several phone calls to find our flat (despite having been provided the address and postcode). He called my partner several times asking for directions and seemed incapable of reading a map. We maybe should have seen this as a warning at the time.

When he started the work he did not dig out a base or lay foundations as discussed with Nigel beforehand, but just lay a brick wall on top of the existing brick patio. It was such a horrendously bad job that when I saw it I was genuinely shocked. See photos via link below.

What made me even more frustrated was when raised the issue with Nigel, he replied (quote) ‘could do with a little more mortar between the soldier course’ but did not accept that it was a shoddy job. Feeling a bit gaslit I posted the work on a bricklayers forum. Comments ranged from ‘this has to be a wind up’ to ‘did he build it with a tennis racket’ to ‘looks like he kicked them in from the roadside.’ See here -

https://www.facebook.com/groups/853083295947331/?multi_permalinks=947326963189630&notif_id=1688897183016407&notif_t=feedback_reaction_generic&ref=notif

I asked Bradley to rebuild the wall to an acceptable standard. He attempted to do so then admitted that he ‘doesn’t normally work with brick.’ We made the decision to end the job there and get someone competent to do the work. We refused to let them do the work on the patio.

When I asked Nigel to refund some of the money we had paid for the work, he told me that he’d spent more on materials he’d quoted (without checking with me beforehand) so would only refund £90. It has been several weeks and I have chased him and I am still yet to receive this money. I’m absolutely livid that a ‘professional’ could have acted this way and hope others read this and take it into account before considering using the same service.

    • They probably checked the time when they found it……..
    • Hi, Anyone getting rid of any of these items? Also looking for a dish for air fryer - max 15 x 15cm. Or one person size dish that can go in airfryer or microwave. Thanks.
    • Noted. I wasn't quite sure from their material whether the 'ad lib' supply by pharmacists had to be mandated; hence the suggestion to check.  There are plenty of individual manufacturers of generic methylphenidate, probably quite a bit cheaper too.  I'm afraid I didn't see radnrach's "can't really take an alternative", so apologies for presuming otherwise.  For myself I'm generally willing to trust that any manufacturer's offering of, say, 27 mg methylphenidate hydrochloride tabs, would contain that, and I'm not too worried about the minor quirks of things like their slow-release technology. I think it's likely that the medicines Serious Shortage Protocol does definitely give pharmacists some degrees of freedom. But it's apparently not in operation here. See the Minister's recent reply to a written question: https://questions-statements.parliament.uk/written-questions/detail/2023-11-13/1660#.   , which seems to approximate to: we can't apply the shortage protocol here because the drugs are in short supply.
    • I'm not sure pharmacists have any discretion to alter specific medication prescriptions, although they can choose supplier where a generic is prescribed which may be offered by more than one company. This will only be for older medicines which are effectively 'out of copyright' . They can't issue alternatives on their own authority as they don't know what counter-indications there may be for specific patients. GPs may prescribe a specific supplier of a generic medicine where, for instance, they know patients have an adverse reaction to e.g. the medicine casings, so the Nottinghamshire directive to specify only generics where available may not always be helpful.
