If anyone's not been able to join up to the beginners running class over at the dulwich park runners, and are looking for help in staying motivated I can whole heartily (well after 1 run this evening) recommend the new Nike+ sportband. It costs ?40 ( plus about another fiver for a pouch for the sensor to sit on your laces if you dont want, as i didnt, to buy the nike+ trainers) and is pretty simple to use. Pop the sensor on your shoe, the band on your wrist and off you pop (and in my case wheeze a little). When you get back, after you've recovered, you unplug the USB bit from the wrist band and pop it in your pc and it'll upload your run. You can then track your performance for all your runs with things like distance, km/h, calories burnt. You can even get a group of you to upload your runs into a community and help motivate each other that way too.

even if you're not going to get the thing, I'd definitely recommend clicking on my runs at the bottom of the page and then go into the MAPIT section, as this is a really good tool for mapping a route for your run and it also showing you how far the run is. There seems to be a few dulwich types who've already logged runs on map it.

    • I’d like to recommend local plumber - James at Trelco Plumbing. I’ve used them twice now, for a kitchen tap replacement and a boiler repair. Both times they were able to attend at short notice, arrived on time and we are very happy with the work they have done. James is polite, responsive and easy to deal with. • Deptford Green and Elm Green anecdotally have a more realistic and compassionate to kids differing needs. Whether that is still the case i'm not sure. Having 3 boys at Charter i would seriously consider a boys school if you have them, Charter East really aren't geared up for the different educational needs of some boys and the challenging behaviour this frustration leads to. I have heard amazing things about St Thomas the Apostle boys school.
    • Thanks everyone for the great recommendations! I wouldn't normally go for vegan restaurants, but I've been to En Root and really liked it. Fresh and tasty.  The Ritzy Cinema in Brixton also sell their food, to eat in their cafe before or after a film (I don't think they sell the whole menu that you'd find in Peckham, but there is a good choice)
