Hello

We are thinking of moving to East Dulwich in the next few months. We have been looking at some places in Derwent grove and Melbourne road. The houses look great but we were concerned about the traffic particularly on Melbourne. Does anyone live around this area and is the traffic much of a problem? It would be good to get some inside information!

Thanks

Both of them are good roads. The biggest problem with them is parking, because they are so close to the station. Both are also used as rat runs to avoid Lordship Lane, and Melbourne is the more used of the two because it's the first turning for those coming from the village, and also because Melbourne carries on over ED Road. But Melbourne is better now than a few years back when it was on the 37 bus route.

By the way, one day they'll be building a new community hospital behind Melbourne, which will no doubt improve the view for those currently overlooking rubble. But in the medium term, perhaps in 3 or 4 years time (who knows?!), you can expect a major construction job to be going on during the day for several months.

    • Hello. Did you hear any further on this? Was there anyone at the council who was helpful to speak to? I am in a similar boat.
    • Dear all, Bit of a random ask but in such a supportive and accepting community, I thought I'd see if anyone had time to help 🙂 I'm conducting research for my MSc Psychology dissertation, using a brief anonymous survey to explore romantic and polyamorous relationships and how/if attitudes around this interact with factors such a family history and family making. The survey should take no longer than 10-15 mins and has been approved by the University of Roehampton. I'm hoping to circulate the survey widely enough that the data gathered is representational of the diversity in modern society across various aspects that constitutes personal identity. Some of the questions are of a personal nature and others could be considered a bit 'spicy', but just to reiterate, this is an anonymous survey.
