Sad times.

Se23.life has closed and now with this closing there seems to be now way to keep up with local info.

I find this Forum a valuable resource not only for local info but also aware of crimes happening in the area etc.

I hope someone does come along - it would mean changes to the software though. I find the newer bulletin boards a bit difficult to read.

I like this old fashioned feel - but that's me being old fashioned and luddite.

If you look at the thread in the link above, as well as time and commitment (and expertise) it needs a fair bit of money spent.

I suggested a crowdfunder, but obviously there is no point having the money without somebody/some people to do what needs to be done to the software and then to run and moderate it.

A huge commitment I would think, and Mark deserves a medal for keeping it going so long.

It's a massively useful local resource and it will be a real shame if it closes, but I can see why others would be loath to take it on.

So sorry to hear this Mark. You and I have had our polite disagreements over the year, resulting in my exclusion from some forum activity. Despite this, I will be very sad to see it go. It?s been a unrivalled resource for nostalgia, local information and hot debate over these last 16 years.

I genuinely hope someone can come along and invest the time and money into keeping it going.

Louisa.

    • There's a simple solution, let's have a referendum on the LtNs and Dulwich junction that is restricted to residents living within a mile of it. (This stops outside interference by organisations for either side) Then let's see if there is support for or against it and have a legal binding agreement that the results are respected and acted upon by the council.  Sounds fair to me or are people scared of discovering how strong feeling is either way ?
