So it seems if we not wasting energy melting down plastics and polluting our own air we ship off our recycling to other countries to go in their landfills. I don't want to be part of this awfull business. Recycling is not good for the environment http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2304773/The-great-recycling-trick-How-carefully-sorted-waste-dumped-abroad.html

This is the Daily Wail, so treat the info with some care. But, assuming the figures are correct, the UK produces over 330m tonnes of rubbish a year. So your 'problem' is just 3.6% of total.

I don't think that's worth getting to het up about. Especially as they are looking to fix the issue.

'Recycling is not good for the environment'.???

I don't know what brought you to that conclusion. The article you referenced only said that there was evidence of fraud in some elements of the processing chain.

To leap from that to saying 'recycling is not good for the environment' is the same as saying 'eating is not good for you' because there's a couple of dodgy restaurants in Peckham.

It's nonsense.

    • If you want to self cater and do it yourself, why not try one of the rooms in a church..  one I am thinking about has a huge room with kitchen and toilets… parking on site.. and another one worth considering is the church near Dulwich Library , top of Barry Road..  pm if you want more info and of course.. all the pubs on Lordship Lane. if you want further afield, Rosendale Pub has rooms above bar area that you can also hire…  Alleyns Head also good - section off a section of the pub for  your sole use and parking on site.. although, might not work if try want to dance and play there own music. Kingwood House might also be worth considering…

    • Hi. Trying to find a small venue for an 18th birthday, any suggestions? Everything’s really expensive.
    • Thank you both. That's really helpful. Will see if we have the budget left next year when we've finished some other work on the house, but would love to do this.
