I had Tommy replace a boiler in my flat last week. He was able to come round and give a quote the day I called him, and moved things around to fit in the new installation within the next week. Could not have been more helpful. Explained choices and the details very well, job went smoothly and was very well done. Would not hesitate to recommend Tommy and I will certainly use him again.

I would not use anyone else, he now does my son and daughters boiler services and my own. He recently replaced a very old boiler and it all went well with a year guarantee.  Such a lovely person to deal with too. Very good value for money!  I couldn’t recommend him more highly.

Very happy to recommend Tommy Rooney's excellent work again. He's been servicing my boiler for years now, but this time he swiftly fixed a leaky radiator valve. I put out a call on Friday and it was repaired - and improved - by Monday evening. I asked him if he had an opinion about my other radiators, and he reassured me as he pointed out the leaky bathroom rad was a non-standard length, which was why it caused problems. There followed a brief but detailed history of improvements in regulations for valves and fittings over the years, so that I could understand precisely what the issue was. How many plumbers will do that for you? "I've just got a memory for weird things," says Tommy modestly.

I've been using Tommy for many years now to service my boiler. He's also changed radiators for me and installed a new digital thermostat. He's very reliable, knows exactly what he's doing and is very reasonable. Always punctual and friendly. A pleasure to have in my home.

Not quite sure where all these references come from as Tommy Rooney being a great/swift communicator - that couldn't be further from our experience.

Rang him a week ago today/Monday to check that he was able to do Gas Safe inspection/cert' for me.  Emailed him the same morning with all the relevant information, messaged him Friday to check whether he's able to schedule it in, called (x3) and messaged again today - without a single response .....

If he can't or doesn't want the work - it would be much easier for all concerned to just say so.  Really not impressed.

Am gutted our regular Gas Safe guy of many years has retired.

Anything could have happened.

There may  have been a medical or family  emergency for all you know.

In my experience Tommy Rooney has been an excellent communicator, and your description of him doesn't sound like him at all.

ETA: I notice looking back at posts  on this thread  that last April I said that Tommy wasn't responding to messages.

I can't now remember what the reason for the non response  was, but I do remember that he did come to my  boiler emergency, which was just as well as I wouldn't have wanted to use anyone else.

Clearly he needs to use some kind of automated message system which would kick in if he couldn't answer the phone within a certain time.

    • You clearly like middle-eastern food, so Zaytoon in Peckham is worth a try. It's Lebanese, so grilled meats, fresh fish and really interesting salads. I'd recommend their chickpea and lentil soup as well - I've tried to replicate it myself, it's that good. It's on a couple of levels, but only two or three shallow steps up to the dining area at the back, and once you're up there, you're on the same level as the bathrooms. It's BYO, and no corkage, but do sort yourselves out on your Tesco Club Card for anything half- right before you get down there - the offies opposite have got wise to it now and are charging accordingly. I've eaten there many times, the food is always excellent, the portions are huge (I've never finished). very reasonable and it's got a really laid-back atmosphere. I haven't had to book, but I've seen larger parties in there who maybe did. I really can't see they'd have a issue with it - the staff are very accommodating. I just checked TripAdvisor (5 stars) and one review specifically mentions how much their kids enjoyed it. It's at 94 Rye Lane, open from 11 til 3ish (at the weekends) and is accessible via the 12, 37, 63, 363 and P13 routes.
