The more strikes there are the worse the financial situation for TFL becomes and raises the likelihood of more cuts being necessary. The last strikes in March are estimated to have cost TFL ?13m so the new batch that kicked off today will deepen the hole TFL finds itself in.

Exactly the same as the 12 is now, every 12 minutes.

It's more about where the 12 goes to and from now in central London.

As someone mentioned, late at night its not convenient to change at the elephant and some users feel safer getting a single bus all the way.

But think on, what will happen when normal working patterns resume in a short time, not enough buses is my opinion...

But signing the petition logs your objection..An email probably wont even get read by anyone with any influence.

I sometimes finish work at 10.30pm and as a lone woman in my 60's I really feel much safer getting on a bus at Oxford Circus by my work-place and getting off at Dulwich Library (ie:near home)

I wouldn't feel particularly safe having to wait for a connecting bus in Elephant and Castle, Camberwell etc etc at gone 11pm.

SOUTHWARK LABOUR PETITION AGAINST BUS CUTS PUT FORWARD BY LABOUR MAYOR KHAN - who did he put it forward to himself?

It seems the petition linked at the top of this thread got considerably more signatures than Southwark Labour's one.

For anyone interested a big chunk of last night’s Council Assembly meeting covered bus cuts and the number 12 specifically, starting with a couple of deputations and then moving on to a debate. Inevitably some bits on the “central govt or TfL” fault issue but importantly the council is very much against the cuts. The meeting’s available on the Southwark YouTube channel.

    • Surely the main issue for Dulwich Village is their retail offer, like most of Dulwich Village,  is desperately dull and a bit basic.  Not really worth anyone from outside of Dulwich Village travelling for.
    • It's a case of who blinks first.  But  purchasers who do this will lose all good will form the owner and will probably suffer aife changing accident as the Gods won't be smiling on them.
    • well - that is disappointing. We know the impact of foreign buyers on the housing market.
    • I much prefer Romeo Jones to >spit< Gail's, but I'm struggling to blame this on the LTN when nothing outside Romeo Jones has changed, the LTN came in 5 (!!!) years ago, and Gail's has queues out the door most days. It also is directly opposite Rocca (which serves coffee and has seating), next door to Porters (which serves coffee and has seating), a few doors along from Real Greek (which serves coffee and has seating), and diagonally across from Gail's (which serves coffee and sells baked goods and has seating). I'll be sorry to see Romeo Jones go (not least because I have a stack of stamped loyalty cards). I don't want to criticise small business owners because it's a tough old racket, but DVillage never really seemed to find its niche either as a proper deli (like La Gastronomia or The Sicilian in West Dulwich) or as a coffee shop (which is difficult when you have Megan's and Redemption right next to you, and Au Ciel around the corner).
