Dead fox in my garden- how do I dispose of it safely

Woke up to a dead fox in the garden and I'm unsure how to dispose of it properly/safely. I'm making the assumption I can not place it in a green bin bagged up?

Some years ago I found a large fox dead in the street on a late night dog walk. I rang the council and they came and took it away.

A few council websites and this one say that if it's in your own garden you dispose of it yourself, double bagged in the bin. Good luck...not the nicest job to to do for the weekend.

Southwark Council will remove it from a private garden at a cost of ?48 though not sure how that would work on a bank holiday weekend

Yes I asked the dustbin men when I found a dead fox in the garden. They confirmed the green bin-and said they had had a lot worse!

When I see a dead fox in road etc I usually put in 2 green bags and leave at side near a tree etc and council come and remove I've done same with cats unless has collar on then notify owner... picked them up in pieces before on Barry road luckily for you yours is still intact .

Please people don't do this with cats i.e. bag up for council. Many have microchip and no collar these days. Need taking to a vet and scanning for a chip. Vets can keep for a week or so and post on social media. Gives any owner a greater chance of having closure at least. Councils mostly just bin and don't check for a chip.
