I haven't seen Councillor Rosie Shimell's letter. (this is not a Council letter but a letter from one of the ED Ward Councillors)

There have been huge cuts to the Council's budget. Yes, there has been reduction in street cleaning, there has been cuts to the budget across all council departments. In my mind we have got our priorities right. For example, all libraries have stayed open and there is still a One O'clock Club in Peckham Rye Park. Recycling rates are up and amounts of waste to landfill down.

People with dogs are supposed to clear up their waste. Most dogs owners do, but there is a minority who persistently don't.

If there are bins that need emptying let me know and I will pass the information on. I will raise about litter and refuse collection on Ulverscroft. I do the same as you Kford!

I'm sure most people do the same, but that doesn't mean that the source of the litter can't be addressed!

Hi Renata,

That's really disingenuous of you.

Yes council budgets have been cut. But your administration as also chosen a number of 'pork fat belly' political projects. So you've ad to make much tougher cuts to fund those.

So it's clear we have different priorities. ED cllrs keeping streets clean yours include free school meals often for children from wealthy families.

Oh James, I will stop on this one , I can see it dissolving into political disagreement yet again. Just to say average family income in Southwark 18k, the average Southwark family would not, therefore, be eligible for free school meals. The majority of families benefitting from free, health school meals are not wealthy. Many children eligible for free school meals weren't claiming them.

I have raised the issue of stuff being dropped while bins are emptied.

    • Can we change the title of this thread please.  Every time I see it I think the pool has been closed again. 😆😆
    • Still a large patch of grit clearly visible in the middle of the pool yesterday (Tuesday).  On the plus side - the water was a lot warmer!
    • Thanks for the response and to some who PM’d me. I’m now included on the Patient Participation Group (meeting next in Dec) so I’m going to feed back the comments here, good and bad. Update today to PPG members is that, as some of you have said, there is a new contact in place with GP practices with effect from 1 Oct. That appears to be the driver for some of the changes we’ve seen at The Gardens. From the responses here, though, patients might be getting an inconsistent message from the Surgery; I was definitely told that appointments must be made through the app, and only the app. It was only when I expressed concern that a strictly online service would not be suitable for all, that I was told by the receptionist that she could complete the request for me (or others if needed). Even then, then patients would need to await a text from the Practice. Perhaps we are just teething problems with the new provision…Happy to bring any and all comments to the PPG meeting (although I’m aware that the most digitally-excluded people probably aren’t on EDF!) Thanks folks.
