“ This page includes household waste collection service updates for summer 2022. We are expecting some periods of extremely hot weather, and this may affect household waste collection services. This may include:

“Our crews will start work earlier on days when very hot weather is expected. This helps ensure work is completed before the hottest periods of the day.

The hotter weather can slow down working speeds, and this may mean that not all collections are complete on the normal days. We expect to catch up any outstanding collections on the following working day.

Almost all collections are being completed normally, and any late collections will be prioritised for the following day, so any delay should be less than 24 hours.

“If your collection is delayed, please ensure that your bin or bagged waste is left in the usual collection location ready for the crew. You do not need to report your collection as missed if it has been notified as delayed. If it is still outstanding by the following day, you can report a missed collection.”

My household waste has been collected, keeping fingers crossed for food recycling though I agree it must be horrible for them in this weather and wouldn’t be surprised if it isn’t collected until tomorrow

    • Adapted not forced.  As have numerous species around the world.  Sort of thing that Attenborough features.  Domestic dogs another good example - hung around communities for food and then we become the leader of the pack.  Not sure how long it will take foxes to domesticate, but some will be well on their way.    Raccoons also on the way https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1j8j48e5z2o
    • My memory, admittedly not very reliable these days, places the shop on the block on the left hand side just before Burgess Park going towards Camberwell. Have also found a reference to Franklins Antiques being located at 157 Camberwell Road which is on that block. This is a screen shot obtained from Google maps of that address which accords with my memory except the entrance door was on the right hand side, where the grey door is, rather than in the centre.
    • The MFI was probably where Iceland is now. This post makes me feel very old - went to a 30th birthday party in the garden at the back. Oh to be 30 again!
    • Anyone upgraded their TV for Christmas?! I'm looking for a smallish Smart TV I can use with earbuds. Not more than 56cm high and  25cm deep. A 26" one used to fit.  Thanks!
