ed_pete
OK I know this comes up repeatedly but just had my Buildings (only, not contents) Insurance Renewal through and I have max no claims discount and yet it's increased by 30%. Meerkat is giving me about three slightly cheaper options. Any obvious reason for the premium increases which I assume are general in nature and not specific to me ? I'm with Aviva. Jenijenjen
Just got my renewal documents through with an increase of 14% which I thought was steep, 30% is horrific. Reasons I was given for increase were:1) The amount of cover has been uplifted by 9.5% to keep in line with inflation (last year it was uplifted by 2.5%) to cover increased cost and shortage of building materials and lack of skilled labour due to Brexit and Covid. 2) General “hardening” of the insurance industry.Do you get your insurance through a broker? On the bright side, I’ve heard contents insurance is going down, Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/311579-buildings-insurance-again/#findComment-1587416 Share on other sites
ed_pete
Thanks, no I'm not using a broker.. Perhaps I should. I normally just use the price comparison sites and direct line. Drxyster
My buildings insurance also increased by about 25%. I used this broker Academy Insurance Services. 01784 461131 based in Egham Surrey.Discussed with Ben Jarrett, insurance advisor.Eventually insured via this broker, having contacted four other brokers, saved me about 15%.A number of insurers will not cover this area due to Subsidence and Flooding.Hope this proves useful. 1 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/311579-buildings-insurance-again/#findComment-1587468 Share on other sites
ed_pete
OK renewal time again. This time it's increased by 35%. About a 30% increase last year. Overall increase of 75% comparing 2021 premium to 2023 premium. No claims made in over 20 years. Anyone else getting massive increases in buildings insurance ? George Orwell
We've had previous subsidence and renewing our home insurance has become something of a nightmare . . . . . . until I tried this broker. They were very helpful, it was hassle free and I got a very good price - even 15% less than last year. https://www.adrianflux.co.uk/household-insurance/ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/311579-buildings-insurance-again/#findComment-1630320 Share on other sites
