Stratford Upon Avon - where to stay kid free?

My amazing eldest bro is taking our kids for the weekend at the end of June. We're to drop them off on Fri arvo and pick up on Sunday!!!!

So where should we stay? We don't want to drive too far as that would be a waste of our adult time? I wouldn't mind being pampered and we love wandering around antique shops and sitting in pubs reading newspapers.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Coombe Abbey is gorgeous and not far from there, they have "feature" rooms which are really special. Great food too.

when I worked there I used to be put up in a really lovely place in the centre of stratford called caterham house hotel ran by alovely couple called Don and Ollie

McDonald Hotel walking distance to the centre and absolutely lovely hotel, pricey but worth it!
