Same happened a couple of weeks ago in SE23.

Exactly the same as you have described, three masked men (balaclavas) with a baseball bat thieving a catalytic converter, the police attended and said they'd already done five that evening. Patrol cars were out looking, obviously they still have not been captured. Resulted in the car minus it's cat converter having to be scrapped.

  • 3 months later...

Last night thieves stole our catalytic converter from outside our house at around 8.30pm. 4 masked men, 1 with a metal bar. Just heard the chainsaw or whatever they used and sparks flying. Neighbour filmed it and we both called the police. Both on hold for 5 minutes to 999 before call was answered. Police didn't show up after reporting.

Kids witnessed all this and were scared stiff. Stuff of nightmares, like watching a movie.

It is a rough area. Happened in our street too.

There is so much crime, cars stolen, street mugging, vans broken into, parcels stolen from doorsteps. It goes on and on

The stats should be available.

Repeat crimes where perps recognised but not caught

Incidents not attended by police etc

These days London is so overcrowded that crime has to rise. Its un-natural for so many people to live in overcrowded places.

Theres no point even buying a nice car, its just a matter of time before something happens to it. My brothers range rover got stolen few months ago and sisters lexus hybrid got jacked few weeks later from different addresses.

Its a bit nuts out there these days.

    • Thanks! I'll find out in a few weeks when I get the results! It was one of those disconcerting things where a disembodied voice keeps booming  at you to breathe in and hold it, then breathe normally. Apart from that it was OK, all completely painless. I imagine there will be quite a few people going from ED, though I presume it covers the whole Southwark area
    • Two men behind ‘senseless’ felling of Sycamore Gap tree jailed for more than four years Good to see these two jailed today for four years. There’s something deeply disturbing about people who destroy trees—any tree. Whether it’s a centuries-old landmark or a sapling in a quiet park, trees are living beings that offer beauty, shade, and life. The men who cut down the Sycamore Gap tree are a stark example of how far some people will go to lash out at something peaceful and meaningful. People who harm nature like this aren’t just destructive—they are often deeply unhappy. It takes a troubled mind to look at a tree and see something to ruin instead of something to protect. • What a brilliant idea. I hope it went OK, Sue.
    • Yes, the appointments were scheduled for every ten minutes. And there is no waiting area at all this time  (sometimes for medical checks there they have a very small area inside with 3 or 4 seats). If you have come by public transport, you have to sit on the steps up to the van if you are early,  which isn't pleasant in very hot sun or pouring rain, or else wander round Asda (there's no cafe in Asda, despite it supposedly being a superstore). It's one in, one out. I don't know what happens if you are late, but I doubt they would hold up everybody who came after you in order to fit you in.  There was someone immediately before me and someone immediately after me. That's what I did in the end , so thank you for that.  I gritted my teeth and got some exercise. It wasn't as bad as I expected 😀 I did get a 37 from Nigel Road back to Goose Green on the return journey, though!
