Hi new on the forum, live near Dulwich library on Lordship Lane. Currently experiencing cracks to my interior walls due to potholes/road damage and heavy traffic, I can literally feel my house shake. Anyone else experiencing these issues? I have reported the potholes to Southwark Council and still awaiting a response.
Yea - house shakes are real. It could be heavy vehicles or just the volume of traffic. I’ve an email history of my complaints to Southwark Council, including the head of highways, stating that should I need to repair anything I shall hold it at least partly responsible as no action was taken to reduce the throughput of large, heavy vehicles (by means of width restriction or camera, etc.) Unrepaired speed bumps are also to blame.
Yep, I live on lordship lane and my bedroom is at the front of the house. Falling asleep to simulated earthquakes is a nightly occurrence. Lots of cracks in ceilings/walls which are def caused by the volume of heavy vehicles shooting past at night
Southwark will not do anything about it - have had the same issue with a speed bump - all three properties that complained that 7 years of the 'new' speed-bump have caused damage to 130-year-old previously sound properties - and have all had to make repairs to walls and windows - Southwark refuse to admit it is due to the speed-bump and vibrations from buses, HGVs and skip-carriers.

    • You can get a card at the till, though, to get the discount. You don't have to carry it with you (or load it onto your phone), you can just get a different card each time. Not sure what happens if they notice 🤣
    • Yes..that may be the case but membership STARTING at £115 a month is still unafforable for many. Council gyms also have a large range of equipment and I had a  PT at Dulwich leisure centre when I was in Full Time employment who was incredible and even kept in contact during lockdown giving me a program I could do at home and checking in weekly at no charge or personal gain for herself. I dont doubt that Fit For may be a good gym (Its been in situ long enough so must be doing something right) However the cost of membership means it is affordable for the few not the many. If I could afford that kind of fee I would rather get a train to Canary Wharf and go to Virgin active where theres a pool and incredible classes and facilities
    • This sounds great 👍
    • We found a red TREK bike yesterday that had clearly been stolen and dumped. Would love to reunite it with its owner. Get in touch if you know whose it is.
