About Ignite Hubs

We are an education charity pioneering innovative and exciting ways for children and young people to learn.

Our vision is to nurture and enrich young minds to explore, grow and learn. We seek to equip each child or young person with the mindset and skills to be successful in school and life.

We are looking for two to three self-motivated, organised and reliable individuals to join Ignite Hubs as Learning & Education Assistants. As the Learning & Education Assistant, you will support the Central Team consisting of Operations & Programme Managers, Instructors and the Director to support the delivery of our classes and our Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Programme and help improve the learning experience and outcomes of our students.

You will report to the Operations & Programme Manager and work closely with her to liaise with parents, students, instructors, mentors and volunteers to organise and manage the delivery of our programmes and classes. You will also have the opportunity to work with our talented Education team to devise exciting and innovative ways to help children and young people learn, progress and develop. In the pipeline, we are creating an Online Learning Platform, educational products and educational-led school holiday camps.

    • A new roadmap (surely railmap?!) for rail accessibility has been published: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/accessible-railways-roadmap It says "approximately 56% of stations and around 66% of the 1.3 billion journeys that take place on the network have step-free access to platforms...  "£373 million has been committed over the next 5 years to deliver Access for All projects, providing step-free access from station entrances to and between platforms, alongside other essential accessibility upgrades. These works, together, will increase the number of step-free stations across Great Britain from 56% to 58%. "This improvement will make travel easier with step-free access available at stations covering an increased share of total rail journeys – from 66% up to 71%" Don't know what that means for us here: upgrading Peckham Rye would cover a lot of rail journeys but the cost has no doubt increased from the £40m figure previously quoted. So that would eat into a lot of the funding.
