KalamityKel
Ok I'll bite.It would be interesting to know what you think women are missing out on with a car.I have never considered a car to be a mans environment and to be honest, without more information, find the assumption that women need more quite insulting. malumbu
I want to live in a world where we don't distinguish between genders in normal life activities. The faster we get rid of toxic masculinity and the motor car the better. I've never used that term before, I must be picking things up from younger generations who generally get this! veronicaspanishteach
Thank you all for taking the time to provide feedback, I give you more details about my study research: I have been collecting information through different articles/ papers and found out that usually, cars are designed and tested from a male perspective, it shouldn't be like that but it is. Things like the link below (2002, on women car designers and researchers) are usually the exception, not the rulehttps://www.media.volvocars.com/global/en-gb/media/pressreleases/5279For example, it is not long time ago that crash test dummies were modelled on women's bodies. for more easy info on this subject you can check https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-62877930This is very good news: this is finally addressed but at the same time sad that it is only recently. This is the reason why I am focussing on women's needs. I am not an advocate on separating issues by genre, class or else, it is only when there is inequality I'd like to include on my studies minority groups opinions. As a long resident in the UK and knowing it is a trend setter country, UK opinions are always very important. I am of course including opinions from other countries. It is good to include as many as I can. Some opinions were based on safety and anxieties triggered on lonely parking lots, for instance. And how a car manufacturer could provide a service addressing this (if they can) . Others were about travelling (driving or not, owning or hiring a car/service) with children or an elderly/vulnerable person, as again, studies show that a higher number or women are usually carers. I hope you don't find anything toxic about this, it is not my intention at all. Actually , quite the opposite.Best WishesVeronica Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/317905-wanted-your-thoughts-about-what-women-need-in-a-car/#findComment-1603037 Share on other sites
Jules-and-Boo
I am surprised that anyone would want to delve into what women want, categorised by their age, profession, family, taste.I'd insert a table, but there isn't functionality.A - WOMEN1. with family - wants room for family or wants car without room for family to get a bit of time alone2. without family - wants room for friends or family but also may want car without room for friends and family3. under 25 - with family - see 1 above4. under 25 - without family - see 2 above5. over 25 - with family - see 1 above6. over 25 - without family - see 2 above7 - profession - [insert profession] - depends what profession requires. eg - dog grooming - may need a van to allow shampooing in the back. eg - food delivery - may need a booteg etc etc etc.B - MEN - see aboveNote - I really didn't bother to answer the part of the question that looks at "taste" as there are billions of people on the planet and they all like either different things or the same things or a combination thereof......and I don't have all day. You're welcome. veronicaspanishteach
thank you for taking the time to share feedback here. The survey is now closed, I know that part of this thread didn't reach the SurveyMonkey questionnaire I prepared, however, it is interesting to find out your reactions around this subject. All your thoughts were important and they will be considered.Research sometimes needs to be organised by groups to give context, to be able to compare common or contrasting situations and reach conclusions;though please note: I did not write according to profession, taste etc, I am equally surprised and concerned as I did not write that on the original title! how did that end up there?I am not sure what that categorisation in the title came from! I only requested decade/generation in the survey monkey questionnaire because I was requested to inform that for my studies. Apologies if this offended, as I mentioned before, that is not the intention.Over and out.Best WishesVeronica Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/317905-wanted-your-thoughts-about-what-women-need-in-a-car/#findComment-1605204 Share on other sites
