Murder in peckham rye park

A 29-year-old man was stabbed to death in a South London park last night (Friday, December 30). The victim was killed in Peckham Rye Park, with police and an ambulance called to the scene at 8.24pm.

Despite paramedics' best efforts, he died at the scene shortly after 9pm. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

It‘s actually on the Rye not the park. Most of Peckham Rye is cordoned off but the Park is open.

There was a helicopter circling last night for hours. Felt like right above and we’re on barry road.

Could be linked.. although could be something else. Always feels disconcerting when it’s up there for so long.

We also heard the helicopter last night. On Thompson Road, a man was being chased by armed police. He was dropped to the floor and kept there with 1 armed police officer. All the blacked out police cars left in a rush to go somewhere else. I don't know how long they were alone there together but must have been about an hour, if not longer. Was quite scary

There was another shooting in Camberwell on 28th December too.

Crime seems to be completely out of control in London recently.

The foot chase started at the lordship lane end of landells road. We heard a commotion then an armed officer running down the road, shouting to stop and get down. Unsure how many people they were chasing. A car had been boxed in by 3 marked and unmarked police cars right by the launderette. That stayed there with an officer for about 2 hours.

As a follow up to this: 

"Four men have been jailed for a knife attack in Dulwich which left the [18 yo] victim with over 60 stab wounds...South Londoners Tashan Bailey-Brown, 23, Denzel Ealmeida, 22, Darren Soyemi, 25, and Kevaniel Perkins-Robinson, 21, were jailed for a total of 117 years for attempted murder."

Sounds like amazing work by London Ambulance Service to keep this kid alive, and police and prosectors for a quick arrest and successful prosecution. Also worth acknowledging journalist Herbie Russell pf the Southwark News for covering the beginning and end of the story. But overall there is nothing to celebrate here.
