Food waste compost bin, ants ?

I have been using the food waste bins that Southwark provided , however the small waste bin outside has been invaded by ants despite the fact it's shut properly .

I am assuming Southwark will not want my ant infested food waste. Is there anything I can do or do I just not bother With the food waste ?

They industrially compost the waste so a few ants won't matter.

Agree henryb. The waste recycling process wont mind some ant protein.

Thank you . It's a lot of ants not just a few so I wasn't sure .

Maybe the ants have set up their colony in your food waste bin - it might have seemed a safe place or maybe your waste food is something which is delicious to them, such as fruit. Either way, I would not like the ants to be destroyed. I would tip it out in the garden as compost . If you dont want to do that or don't have a garden, let me know - before the dustmen are due to collect!
