My son Alex has got into Charter East , starting in September 2023, when my eldest son started someone organised a lovely welcome picnic in dulwich park over the summer hols, so I am hoping to do the same as it was really helpful for my son and his friends

So I’ll start things off here , and we can form a little WhatsApp group to organise a meet up

Hi

The Friends of charter east will be organising a welcome picnic for first weekend in September and will set up a new year 7 WhatsApp group. Details will go out to new parents via the school.

Yes I believe they have pencilled in for 2nd September? A lot of us mums have agreed we would like to meet earlier in the hols so they kids can have opportunities to swap numbers and hang out before their first day at Charter
I think that the whole purpose of having a picnic in September is that children from waiting list that will get a place during summer time will have a chance to meet everyone. The last big shakedown is in August hence first weekend of September is proposed.

    • To be fair, a pot of tea for one in a department store is a small pot, and you only get one cup or mug!
    • I know - we have been here lots of times since it first opened,  which is why we were disappointed that it was closed at a time it was supposed to be open, but with no notice to say why! I guess we will just  have to ask the reason at our next visit, but I'm not sure we will risk Saturday lunchtime again unless we find the closure  was an unavoidable one off ....
    • Nope. I don’t have this wrong. I’ve tried to put my point across respectfully, without resorting to personal, angry insults. And all my colleagues agree that the BBC got this right in its condemnation.    All you see is confirmation bias.    If you don’t realise that, then you’re part of the problem.
    • We have always gone during the week at lunch time - great place and good value. Husband has been several times on his own and owner knows his first name. I could not go one time for some reason and she sent him home with some spring rolls (free)
