For Saturday Mar 18th we will have 2 rides, one 2 hours and one 3 hours, details below. Note 9.30 start for Ride 1 to Kings Cross.

Ride 1. Peckham to Kings Cross < https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/peckham-to-kings-cross-cycle-ride-tickets-583949969077 >

9.30am start from Peckham Square (next to Peckham Library and Peckham Pulse Leisure Centre, SE15 5RY). 3 hour ride. Everyone loves the new developments at Kings Cross. Ride will stop in Granary Square with time for a coffee break (in market, under cover) and a bit of a look round. Outward route down Canal Path to Cycleway 10 (Q1). Ride this to Blackfriars Rd, then switch to Cycleway 6.

This goes over Blackfriars Bridge and up Farringdon Rd before branching off through quiet back streets and over safe crossings to Kings Cross. Return leg will take a more easterly route: The Angel, City Rd (passing the Eagle pub of “Pop goes the Weasel” fame), then Bunhill Cemetery, Guildhall, Southwark Bridge and local routes back to Peckham. Flat route with lots to see, come and join us. Amanda leading. Ride report from May 2022.

Ride 2. Charles Dickens in Southwark < https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/charles-dickens-in-southwark-cycle-ride-tickets-583960249827 >

Start 10am, Peckham Square (next to Peckham Library and Peckham Pulse Leisure Centre, SE15 5RY). 2 hour ride.. Gentle ride passing (and sometimes stopping) at locations associated with Charles Dickens. Dickens was imprisoned in Southwark at the Marshalsea and located his novel Little Dorrit there. He also referenced many Southwark locations in his books.

In addition to Dickens, Southwark has many more literary associations and the ride will note Shakespeare and others along the way. 10 miles, route map at

Bruce leading. This ride is based on Charlie Holland’s route published at https://www.cycleconfident.com/media/public/downloads/Southwark_Shakespeare_and_Dickens_Cycle_Route.pdf where there is a lot of interesting information. 10 miles, Bruce leading.

These rides are part of the Healthy Riders group, organised by Bruce Lynn on behalf of Southwark Cyclists https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/. Like everything else we do, our activities are all free. We co-operate with other London Cycling Campaign groups like Greenwich Cyclists. The LCC details are here: https://lcc.org.uk/.

    • Hello Everyone,  Are you are a patient at FHRGP? I have copied the following information from their website about the next Patient Participation Group meeting to be held at 6.30pm, on Thursday 23rd January 2025. This is an opportunity to come along, listen to what they have to say as per the Agenda, and perhaps ask some pertinent and searching questions about any concerns you may have regarding the agenda items, or any other matters regarding the Practice and the impact and consequences it has on us, the patients.   Patient Participation Group (PPG)  Next Meeting: 6:30pm Thursday 23rd January 2025  Dr Ganesh will continue to share with us the realities of general practice. The agenda will include: The FHRGP Website Allocation of appointments  Accessing non-urgent care  A named GP  Staff name badges  Face to face appointments  Older patients and apps  The long term plan  A patients’ questionnaire All patients are warmly invited to share in this opportunity Time will be given for patients’ issues including topics for PPG discussion in 2025 Please, put the date and time in your diary and come along. Change only happens, when the people (us, the patients) make our voices heard about any concerns we may have, to those who can affect change, and improve how things are run to benefit the patients.  "Things can only get better"
    • Shop was closed today & flowers left outside….. the funeral couldn’t be so soon, could it?
    • After I contacted them via online chat the assistant said, "Sorry I don't know what happened", basically. She offered to rebook the pickup but I said there was no time to try a third time. I got a refund and sent my parcel through the post office instead.
