Are you a friendly, values-driven, enthusiastic team player? Looking to work for an award winning museum housed within 16 acres of Gardens? If yes we ask you to read on!

We're looking for 2 warm and approachable Visitor Hosts to share their enthusiasm for the Horniman’s collections of objects from the natural world and different cultures. You’ll be friendly and helpful as you help our visitors to get involved with daily activities at the museum, as well as ensuring that they have a safe and smooth-running visit.

You’ll have previous experience of working with the public (not necessarily in a museum), and you may well be familiar with the Horniman and the local area. You will have outstanding customer service skills, and will be able to follow correct procedures to keep both our collections and our visitors safe.

We have 2 weekend posts available: 14.5hrs a week, worked every Saturday and Sunday from 9.30am-5.45pm

Salary: £23,392 pro rata per annum

Permanent contract

Find out more by visiting our website https://www.horniman.ac.uk/about-the-horniman/jobs/ and apply by 10am on Monday 17 April 2023.

    • Went to a fireworks display maybe 20 years ago at the Crystal Palace, it wasn't bonfire night, can't remember why it was being held, Capital Radio were there. There were people hanging from a crane, classical music, and quiet fireworks,  It was lovely, still dramatic with the colours but no loud bangs. Not sure why this hasn't become the norm.
    • Hi  After a surprising split I find myself trying to furnish a home. If you gave anything that you don't want that may help I'd be so so so grateful if you could let me know please.  Thank you so much
    • Hallo As far as I know  info you have quoted is wrong.  You can phone for an appointment although I have always found it easier to do online. Go to their website for info on how to book appointments Any requests I have made have been reviewed and answered by a GP within 4 hours
    • Nadia did a great job tidying up my very very overgrown yard. (See the before and after photos). I live in New Zealand and my tenants said a neighbour has been complaining about the out of control ivy. Nadia was easy to contact so over WhatsApp, managed to liaise between me and my tenants. Her quote was reasonable for the amount of work that needed doing, and the end result is great! She sent photos throughout so I could track progress. Would highly recommend her to others.
