Does anyone know of any local walking clubs at all? I'm thinking more of a group that does decent hikes in the South East and occasional forays into the hills rather than a ramblers group.

I'm looking to get back into doing regular treks, and tying friends down for a weekend (easy now) can prove quite tricky - so I'm looking for like-minded individuals who are happy to head out of town once or twice a month and tackle some different trails. Kind of like these cycling excursions people seem to organise down here all the time - but without the lycra.

    • Well thanks for enriching the conversation.  Would you chuck Fah - rage in too for his tax avoidance on his property?   I expect it was lead story on Jeremy Vine too.  Doesn't make it a story, just a bit more of BBC tabloid style sensationalism.  There are numerous real news stories in the UK and across the world.  And now, apt for Halloween, you have summoned up the ghost of Louisa. So for the third time, will you now eat humble pie?
