What happened to the water at Horniman's triangle sandpit?

I always think its such a shame the water has been turned off since late last year, anyone know why? Just looked on Lewisham Council site to try and find someone to ask but no idea what department!

I think it's only on in late summer, agree with you it's a shame it's not on with this weather!

Went to the Diana memorial playground too where they say the water is only put on in the middle of summer.....SUCH a shame....brilliant designs ruined by someone thinking it doesn't matter leaving the water out...ergh

I'm not sure the Horniman water pump is working... when it was on last summer, it was marvellous fun - it had made a huge sandy puddle in a part of the pit and my toddler loved wading through it with his shoes and socks on! Then about a week later, my husband said the water pump wouldn't switch off and had flooded a large part of the sand pit...

If it is a water saving strategy, it is not a London wide one. Was at Danson Park in Bexley a few weeks ago when it wasn't even that warm and their splash play area was working.
