Why do you think there would be asbestos in the soil underneath this residential building?

The excavation is of the grounds the surrounding the residential building.  The reason why I think it might contain asbestos is because the land contamination report of these grounds said that it might.

The site has had previous demolitions prior to the control of asbestos act - i.e asbestos debris may be there. Also it is likely to have Made ground (ground made of buried debris that sometimes contains asbestos).

Yes, push for it to be tested for PCBs, heavy metals, PFOAs, Sarin, Novichok, DDT, Anthrax and the most deadly of all dihydrogen oxide.

Better safe than sorry!

I believe I have a valid concern. If you think I don't then, rather than sarcasm, it would be interesting to hear your reasoning.

I agree, that is quite interesting particularly given the push to build on brownfields sites.

I know nothing at all about this but out of interest just had a read of this blog post which I found quite helpful and links to the industry guidance.  It does seem as though further testing and risk assessment is something that the employers of those on site need to carry out as the project proceeds, rather than something expected to be done up front as part of the grant of planning permission.

The industry guidance to construction companies about what they need to do on the investigations front is from about para 164 onward

There seems to be quite a lot of detail, and as the protection of workers extends well beyond just issuing them with protective equipment (eg controlled wetting, low intensity work methods, possibly ventilation) that would presumably provide appropriate protection for neighbouring properties?

    • I can’t seem to find the original post or person in my DMs.    in 2013/14 someone had a large wheel of string fairy lights. They were white string and there were options of warm and white lights. I hired them for (I think) £20 for the day. They listed it for hire for parties, weddings, Christmas etc. I’m not sure how long they were (50m or 100m?).   if you have something similar or were the person who listed these, I’m looking to hire again for a small event on c. Mar 17th. Easier to hire off someone rather than buy myself and store away for another 12 years.   Thank you.
    • Food not consistent at all at Plough and if not lunch menu, well going rate really…these “ children” seem to be  the problem regarding food.. others being adults hopefully more adaptable.. new thought for you, choose a restaurant/cafe etc for all of you and why not get M & S  food that can be heated up for children? I am sure if you explain to whoever you choose they will accommodate you. In this day and age, most children I know and yours are not young either, have tried and tasted most cuisines — frankly, built rod for your own backs here.. I get veggie and vegan but most east Chinese, Thai …..and of course usual cafe offerings.. Indian an acquired taste … so normally fried rice for example with veg suits most…  Really interested to find out who the lucky cafe is going to be..and where.. East Dulwich, Peckham?  Other thought is pizza…not my personal choice for a celebration meal but does cater for all your various diets… maybe you could make it special buy adding a lovely cake at the end or  in your case prob two,,
