HI DVNewbie, I did a couple of courses with Jane a few years ago and really recommend them. Very reasonable price and great for beginners!

Hi DVNewbie - have you tried sending a query to Jane via her website? If there is enough demand then she might be up for putting on another course. But the main sowing season has gone and we're now into the growing season for this year. Maybe see if Jane's Veg School could put one on for people who just want to do some initial simple growing and get a plot ready for autumn planting (i.e. for plants that will come through in the winter or spring of 2014).

Of course, there are any number of books that could help get you started until the next class runs - in fact, Jane could probably suggest some. She doesn't teach anything magical or mysterious, it's all available in books - though of course you don't get the same practical, hands-on tuition from books.

Good luck

Thanks BigED. Yup, I have been reading books and having a go anyway. I'm just not working at the moment (and only have a few months before I need to again!) so I'm trying to maximise the opportunities to learn about stuff I've always wanted to while I have some spare time! Books etc. it is! (I have emailed Jane though and may well sign up for the Feb course anyway - especially as it's on a Saturday...)

    • What is it that makes Waitrose so special! Admittedly I have shopped a couple of times in the Orpington and Beckenham one - sometimes buying food which I cannot get else where. Their 'basic range' is not bad. Price for price and quality - M & S.

    • Hi, Thinking about  going with some friends and was just wondering if folk might like to report back please. Most importantly sound level when busy & is it disabled friendly.  Thinking on a Sunday lunchtime but don’t want a busy busy environment or loud chatter - a couple of friends could not cope. Time can be flexible, if that helps - say 2 ish to avoid above.. Thanks…
