arch
I am meeting a friend visiting from abroad at lunchtime next Tuesday. He is working for the day in the city (close to Bank station) and I am looking for a place to book for lunch, price range in the region of ?25-40 max per person. I don't know that area very well...any reccommendations? Thanks Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/33190-restaurant-for-lunch-bank-city-area/ Share on other sites
Ms Blueberry
Bread Street Kitchen near St Paul's. Duck and waffle (360 degree views of London) closer to Liverpool street station. Both outstanding and not a far walk. The George and vulture for a Charles dickens adventure - but check it's still open. Have fun. Siduhe
Loads round there. One Lombard is at the top end of your budget, but the brasserie (at the front) is in a converted bank trading floor, beautiful room and the food's good too (but more of a formal restaurant meal than say Duck and Waffle). http://www.1lombardstreet.com/the-brasserie It definitely impresses visitors. The Mercer just along the street is good, but also at the upper end of your budget. If you are going on Tuesday you can have their shepherd's pie which I'm told is excellent and good value. http://www.themercer.co.uk/mo.htmlI went to Madison on the top floor of One New Change recently and liked it - great views over London if you get the right table. http://www.madisonlondon.net/food.htmlOn TopTable this place has availability for lunch on the day you want and 30% off food - never been there myself but gets good reviews:http://www.toptable.co.uk/the-door?hpu=1430719522&shpu=1&p=2&rid=62818&pt=100,100,100,100,100&t=fr&sd=19/06/2013%2012:30&ofbs=116376%2c116376%2c116376%2c116376%2c116376&i=0&d=19/06/2013%2012:15:00,19/06/2013%2012:30:00,19/06/2013%2012:45:00,19/06/2013%2012:00:00,19/06/2013%2013:00:00Edited to link to site Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/33190-restaurant-for-lunch-bank-city-area/#findComment-653377 Share on other sites
Jeremy
Le Relais de Venisehttp://www.relaisdevenise.com/They only serve one thing - steak and chips, with a salad for starter. Sam
All good suggestions.Relais de Venise is brilliant but you can't book, so get there pronto after 12 or be prepared to wait. And they'll only seat you if the whole party are there. It is noisy and, er, cosy but don't let any of that put you off. Well worth it (provided you like steak and chips). The Brasserie Blanc is overpriced and uninspiring, and the new place opposite Relaise de Venise (La Bourse) is expensive and the service glacial. There is a Jamie's Italian on Threadneedle St too, which is ok.Lot's of these places will do lunchtime deals. Coq D'Argent will do too (good french food, amazing outdoor space if the weather is good). Check online for the lunchtime offers.Hope you find something decent and that you folks enjoy yourselves.
