all praise to the Peckham Park beekeepers

Just want to raise a round of applause for the hardworking wildlife gardeners and beekeepers who tend the 1 yr old wild garden in Peckham Park.

Reading this =>http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2013/jun/13/honeybee-colonies-england-winter today made me doubly grateful.

In my front yard containers of herbs are attracting honeybees whenever there is sunshine. They seem to adore the aromatics such as thyme and rosemary and I wonder whether these offer protective substances they can carry back to the hive?

Making me happy and doing something to help by gardening for their delight in return.

Thanks.

    • It doesn't regrow though . There was a swamp there  this winter with no grass.
    • So fickle @malumbu for someone who screams out about caring for the environment. Try and keep your story straight and not get diverted by things you secretly enjot is my best advice.
    • Hello... My aunt is coming over from Spain from Tuesday 27th August to Saturday 7th September and looking for a house swap with someone who lives near Peckham Rye Park. She is looking to be in a house/flat (at least two bedrooms). You could make use of her four bedroom house in San Fernando in southern Spain (just a couple of tram stops between Cadiz and Chiclana, a beautiful area) those two weeks or at another point that suited you (as it's not where she lives)... Please get in touch if you are interested and we could chat more about it... Thanks so much... Beccy
    • Just a few weeks ago the whole area was green and a joy, now it looks a wreck. As others have said, by all means have a party but don't leave the place in this state afterwards as it spoils it for others. The idea that it is just fine to subject the same area of land to this treatment summer after summer is crazy and hard to fathom.
